About 100 Made: 1971 Jeepster Hurst Edition

hurst

I thought I knew all of the Hurst special edition cars, but I was wrong! Have you ever heard of the Jeepster Commando Hurst Edition? This model apparently came about due to the need to add some pizzazz into the Jeepster lineup and was Hurst’s first attempt and adding performance to a 4WD vehicle. You can find a lot of information on this special model here, here and here. This particular Jeepster has been stored for the last five years in Birmingham, Alabama, and is up for sale here on eBay with an opening bid of $3,000 and no reserve. Yes, that warped hood scoop is stock, and this one is warped a lot less than some I saw in pictures. All the Hurst equipment is present, including the unusual Hurst dual-gate automatic shifter and the original striping. I happen to like Jeepsters a lot, so this one to me would be nice to restore. Share your Hurst special edition experiences here with the rest of us!

With no reseve the catch here that the seller has the right to end the auction early. So if you bid don’t get fusturated if you don’t get the jeepster even if you are the highest bidder.

Wow, I’m continually amazed at what shows up here. This could be one of the rarest cars featured here yet. It was called the ” Forgotten Hurst”, as shown by Patrick Foster’s article in Hemmings. Not many of these around, and probably will be gone by the end of the day. Very unusual find.

I like it-mainly because it’s unusual and whole. Never was much of a fan, but looks like fun if it doesn’t creep too much

I thought I knew stuff, but a Hurst Jeepster? Never…
Me thinks if you find 8000 (as stated on the tach) you’d better have brought walkin’ shoes…
    ;)
Would have been cool with its cousin’s (The Machine) hood tach/scoop.

I didn’t know about them until I read an article the other day in a 20 year old SIA. By the way, I’ll send the magazine free of charge to winner if they found it on BAT .. .

Like a Jeepster with a track suit! They had another limited edition called the SC1. Kind of the “lite” version of this.

I knew about these. Then Jeep made another red white and blue one- the Super Jeep CJ-5 in 1976
