I confess that these larger Fords hold a place dear to my heart. I learned to drive in an LTD very similar to this one. Driving one of these for the first time on a narrow country lane and meeting a semi-trailer heading in the opposite direction is an experience that is never forgotten. It wasn’t enough to put me off cars though. This 1967 LTD looks like a nice car, and you will find it listed for sale here on Craigslist. It is located in Payette, Idaho, and is being offered for sale with a clean title. The owner has set a sale price of $5,500 for this LTD.
This LTD is a nice looking car. I’ve been looking at all of the areas that caused issues on my father’s car, and they all look to be clean and free of any rust issues. The rockers look clean, as do the rear wheel wells and arches. The paint has a nice shine to it, and the exterior trim looks really good. The seller is the 2nd owner of this car, and overall it really looks like the car has been well looked after and maintained.
The interior of the LTD presents just as well as the exterior. It isn’t perfect, but it is pretty good for a 51-year-old car. There are a couple of small cracks in the wheel rim and a crack in the driver’s armrest. Otherwise, the interior looks really nice. The car is fitted with air conditioning, a power seat, and an 8-track player.
The seat upholstery looks good in both the front and back. What we don’t get to see is under the hood of this old girl. We know that it’s a 390ci V8 with an automatic transmission. The seller gives no real indication of the condition of the engine and transmission, but if the general condition of the rest of the car is any indication, then it is probably pretty good.
I would love to take a close look at this LTD because I would love to see if it is as good as the photos tend to indicate. The reality is that it’s not as desirable as a Mustang or a Thunderbird, but that isn’t the point with this car. What it seems to represent is an opportunity for someone with a family to purchase a nice 50+-year-old car that they can use and enjoy as a family. At the asking price, I think that it represents a good opportunity for a family somewhere.
I’m not a Ford nut, but for family nights or heading out with your buddies, how can you go wrong with this car? Not being a “2 doors too many” snob, I’ll cruise it and make years of memories before most snob-approved rides are even ready for their first coat of Respray Red.

Every time I see a ’67 Ford full size car I think of the T.V. show “The Invaders”. That is all of the cars they drove. I really liked that show and will someday purchase the DVD set.
I associate this car with the FBI TV show from the 60’s.
As I mull over what my mid-life crisis car is going to be, I vacillate between a traditional sports car (C5 Vette specifically)… or a classic car. Seeing something as nice as this LTD at a great price, doesn’t help any.
If it’s really that clean, and with those options, then $5500 is a very good price for that car. I’d preserve it and enjoy it for what it is.
Everything but that darn safety steering wheel, man that looks like a boxing glove! Luckily there are still old classics that at least appear in very good condition at a reasonable price.
Lol I was going to comment on the same thing. I have both a ’66 and ’67 Mercury Caliente, and I despise the wheel center on the latter. I’ve considered several times swapping it out, but haven’t found a good ’66 substitute for it at swap meets yet.
I like the fact, all these years later, that Ford did this as I can spot a 1967 from a mile away.
Today it is a conversation starter at a car show.

I would love to buy this car, give it to my father & mother in law. So they could cruise down memory lane when ever they desired.
I also own the Invaders DVD and love seeing these cars. One memorable vehicle used in these episodes was a bluish ’67 Galaxie 500 convertible with a 428 V-8.
Great car at a great price. The 390 isn’t much of a revver, but it produces awesome torque that will get this big Ford moving quickly enough. Plus, the FEs sound awesome with dual exhaust and some throaty mufflers.
I remember, this color on late ’60’s Fords faded faster than any other color. I’ve seen many this aqua with primer showing through the hood and roof on relatively new cars. Ford’s best era for cars.
My first new car! One of the best features was an @25 gallon fuel tank. I could drive from Central NJ to North Carolina without a fill up. Easy to work on and long-lasting.
I have always loved these since I was a kid. Probably my favorite Ford design.The tail lights are like jewelry.
1967 brought a lot of my favorites: AMC Ambassador, full size Mercury, Cougar, Chrysler, Plymouth Fury.
The mild re-hash of those designs seemed to ruin a lot of great details on the 68 versions of these cars.

This was the last glass reverse light Ford ever used.
I am more partial to the 1966 and 1968 model, but will take a 1967 in a pinch.
The dash does seem odd to me though as it is a one year design that still looks odd.
I think the ’67 grille (/front clip) is superior to either, and like the fastback and taillights of the ’68. The dash of the ’67 just looks like a cleaner version of that in the ’66 to me.
My Father bought a galaxy 500 new in 1967 and I learned to drive on that car and loved it when I got my license I bought 1970 galaxy and it was a piece of crap the 67 galaxy frame rotted out in 1976 from the northeast winters
I had a 1967 galaxy one of the best cars ever , drove it to over 200k with out many repairs , just regular service . I gave it to my brother in law when we bought a newer Ford and he totaled it with in a week .
For all of you “4 Door Haters,” this is not your ordinary 4 door grocery hauler, but a 4 door hardtop! Do not know how many were produced by Ford, but I imagine not that many. Always liked the 1967 full size Fords, nice lines and interior.
dweezilaz – you are correct! Those taillights are like rubies! I find that the 3/4 view really illustrates how elegant these cars are. You can go wrong and that price, even with adding shipping! Hope it finds a loving home!
That big, spongy steering wheel center certainly brings back memories. This is the first year without the 352 as an option. Big gap between 289 and 390.
I really like these sedans but especially that color. The more I read on Barnfinds the more I learn…so thanks all. One question, does/could this suffer from that weak frame issue caused by rust that I read about on many Fords in the 60’s? Or is that just a Northeast problem for us Jersey guys?
