The Corvair 95 was a van/pickup version of the air-cooled Chevrolet Corvair with the engine mounted in the rear. Four versions were offered: the Greenbrier/Corvan (van) and the Rampside/Loadside (pickup). The Greenbrier was the passenger version of the van, with glass side windows and either six or eight doors, depending on seating configuration. The seller has a nice ’63 Greenbrier with some new parts, and it looks ready for a little trip. Located in Rohrersville, Maryland, this potential survivor is available here on Facebook Marketplace for $7,500 (down from $8,500). Kudos to Barn Finder “Bob” for this aspirated tip.

Corvair 95 production began a year after the Corvair debuted and ran for five years (1961 to 1965). The name was derived from the 95-inch wheelbase of the vehicle, which used a modified/shortened version of the Corvair platform. The Corvair 95 competed with the Volkswagen Transporter, but both Ford and Dodge fielded their versions, too. The four variants found 130,000 buyers overall, with the Greenbrier topping the list at 51,000 units. About 12,000 of them were built during the 1963 model year alongside the seller’s van.

This van is being posted on behalf of a relative (father), so the history is not revealed. But a variety of new parts are included, including the tires, battery, brakes, and fuel pump. So, we assume it runs well and will get the job done. It has the 110 hp version of the 145 cubic inch flat-six used by all Corvairs in 1963, paired with a Corvair version of the 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. This is the 3-seat model, so it could haul a family with a lot of kids.

These things tended to rust away, but the body here looks solid. As does the two-tone red/orange and white paint. The interior has some aftermarket covers, so perhaps the upholstery will need some attention. The mileage isn’t disclosed; instead, a placeholder of 1,111 miles is used. If this thing runs as well as it looks, it could be a fun acquisition. BTW, after the Corvair Greenbrier was discontinued in 1965, Chevy reused the name as a Chevelle station wagon between 1968 and 1972.

Former owner of one of these. You don’t often see them with the fancy interior upholstery….which gets you to a total of FIVE ashtrays in this van!
Looks like it has a van block too.
The 145 ci mid grade engine made 102 hp through and including 1963, while the later 164 ci mid grade choice was the one that made 110 hp from 1964 onwards.
“This is the 3-seat model, so it could haul a family with a lot of kids.”
Very leisurely, of course.
