All Original: 1967 International Scout

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Located in sunny San Clemente, California, this 1967 International Scout 800 is for sale here on eBay with 2 days remaining in the auction. This Scout is being sold at no reserve and has been bid to $13,902 by 43 different bidders. The Scout is all original and still reflects has the factory paint .I like this picture above because it looks like something that Marlin Perkins would drive on Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom.

This clean little Scout is very straight and rust free. The interior is original and the seller states that the vehicle has stayed in California its whole life. The front bench seat has a couple of rips but they don’t look that bad. The Scout is said to run and drive well and has brand new Falken tires on the original 15 inch factory rims. The owner’s maintenance records are also included.

The International Scout retains its original 152 cubic inch inline four cylinder engine which is mated to a 4 speed manual transmission. This engine was factory rated at 93 horsepower. The gauges, lights, radio, heater and wipers all work. The International Scout 800 replaced the Scout 80 which was produced up through 1965.

The optional engines in 1967 were a larger inline 4 cylinder, an inline 6 cylinder and a 266 cubic inch V8 engine. The white paint is said to have some dings and marks that it has picked up over the past 50 years. I am sure whoever buys this will be happy with the utility and condition of this well preserved survivor.

IF you are going to buy a scout be very good at welding and searching the net for hard to find very expensive parts. I like them and think they are cool but after having a friend who had several i am also very aware of the issues with owning one but none the less they are cool and fairly rare. This one is cool because of its originality but the 93hp 4 banger is not my cup of tea!

As the owner of a Scout, I’m always confused why people say parts are hard to find. There are multiple vendors across the country who are happy to sell you parts at reasonable prices (and there are several others who will be happy to charge you much more). International engines powered thousands of dump trucks and school buses, and the rest of the running gear is pretty common stuff.

I agree that Scout 80/800 sheet metal is not as available as it is for the Scout II, but one thing I’ve found is that IH guys/clubs are almost always friendly, knowledgeable, and know where to find hidden stashes of stuff.

This particular Scout looks like a great example.

Why would one need to be proficient at welding when buying a rust free example such as this excellent rig?

If I were in the market for a vehicle of this nature, I would be interested in this little beauty. But since I no longer hunt, fish or drive on I paved roads I can’t figure what I’d use it for.

I’d like to know what the 3 shift levers are. Obviously transmission, transfer case, and what?

Third lever is to select high or low range (I assume – haven’t owned a Scout, but Jeeps, Land Cruiser and Land Rover)

I don’t C “3 sticks” as there’s no interior pic. PTO, transmis and transfer is usual. Some have gone to seperate the frnt & rear shafts in the transfer w/2 seperate sticks (dumb in my world) but not sure here…
80 model wuz a good rig. Liked the 800 as it went to i6 (one of my favs six too) but the scout & scout II were not. For parts: gotta know which one to know the vendor cuz at this point they went to 1 co for one thing, another for another – chebby this, ford that, etc…
