The Polara was restyled in 1967 and it was really a modern update. Most updates are but sometimes a few (million) of us are wondering why they just leave well enough alone. This 1967 Dodge Polara 500 hardtop coupe is listed here on eBay with bids of just over $3,000 but of course, the reserve isn’t met yet. It’s located in Glenwood, Iowa.
There’s no pedestrian safety in this front end – at least there isn’t a big, rocket or another jutting hood ornament. I’m kidding, of course, I love the era when grilles had character like this ’67 Polara and didn’t all look like angry electric shavers. The seller says that this car “was originally purchased and spent most of its life in Colorado before being purchased by the 2nd owner in Kansas.”
Man, that’s unique! What a great looking design. The condition looks good, overall. The seller says that the “body is exceptional for the age and paint is all original with the exception of what looks like an old repair to the front fender corners. Floors are solid with no rust. Factory undercoating is still in place. The factory white vinyl top is weather checked and will need replacement.” There are a couple of scrapes and dings but overall it really looks like a solid car.
The seller talks about the seats needing some help, hopefully, some OEM-style covers can be found. You can see some of the sun damage on the back seats and on the passenger side photo. The seller is throwing in a new headliner. They say that the “The A/C compressor engages and is complete. The car includes rear AC, another rare option.”
This powerhouse is Dodge’s 383 cubic-inch V8 with a 4-barrel carb which would have had a potent 325 hp. This car runs and drives excellent, according to the seller, and it has a new “fuel pump and alternator… Shifting is firm and acceleration is smooth. Brakes are good and all lights function.” That’s one nice, clean engine! Hagerty is at $8,000 for a #4 fair condition ’67 Dodge Polara 500 2-door hardtop. What do you think is a fair price for this example?
Very cool.
What a beauty! I would buy it tomorrow if I had room.
I would buy tomorrow if I lived in USA!
Beautiful car. Hope it finds a great home.
As far as the “angry electric shavers” comment you’re spot on Scotty!!!
Yeah, that was the best summary of contemporary cars I’ve heard in a long time.
Built really strong and heavy, they are military grade. I haven’t seen one in decades. This essay the beginning of the end for Chrysler. It was very expensive to keep changing bodies.
I had a convertible `67 Polara 500, metallic blue.
40 years ago this month.
Power windows, A/C, buckets, truly a beautiful car.
Sure wish I’d kept it, along with all my others from back then.
Gorgeous! Oh, how I’d love to have it!
The add on tach would worry me.
Was he racing this car?
My dad put a tach in a car with a Chevy 230 inline 6 with a 3 on the tree, definitely not for racing though.
I can understand that with a manual transmission.
This car is more of a cruiser so the RPMs aren’t that important.
FWIW, that does appear to be a traction bar(?) seen just inside the left rear wheel in the left rear quarter pic.
I have always loved Mopars, but have never owned one.
This body style is very cool, and the tail lights look angry..!..lol
This sure looks nice overall, and I see it going for a nice sum.
There sure can’t be many this nice out there….very cool..!!
Friends don’t let friends drive Mopars……Just saying?
Well then, I guess you must be my friend, Keiffy, because I sure wouldn’t let you drive one of MY Mopars…….just sayin’!
Once owned a 67 Plymouth VIP with the same roof. No right outside mirror. Had to change lanes with a cane!
I like it
God, why can’t all vendors be like this? – makes a mockery of all others who shift cars
I bid one hour of holodeck time and all you can drink at Quarks!
this is more realistic
Live long and prosper!
I love the styling of these!
I’ll repeat my earlier statement – I can’t think of a
badly styled American car in ’67.
If someone buys this car for under $10k, they stole it! I bought one of these in 1974, unfortunately it turned out to have been flood damaged during hurricane Agnes. It had electrical issues from day one. Beautiful car!
Miss my wagon…..my girlfriends 5.0 had a hard time getting by it out on 635…..when we left those ball games late…….
Anyone know what that “hose” is for in the trunk pic, right next to the spare tire? At first I was thinking it was a filler pipe for the fuel tank………but I can’t see a fuel door on the trunk cowl anywhere…………unless I’m looking at the pic the wrong way……..?
Still a beautiful car though!!!! I’ve got a ’66 Newport and I absolutely love the old Chryslers!!!
I believe it is for the rest a/c.
Rear ac there are 2
I dated a lovely French-Canadian girl a few years back, and her father had one but in a dark red finish. Owned from new, and stored every winter from the harsh Quebec winters…his face lit up when he talked about that car. It meant the world to him, and I can see why.
Sweet ride! $7,500 would be fair price on this one. I think it has the best Mopar auto transmission made coupled with a solid 383 ci motor. I hope the oem style interior seat covers are available somewhere. The body work needed looks to be minimal but more pics underneath would be needed before pulling the trigger. (see picture of left side rear quarter – I see some rust or undercoating coming loose)
Nice car . Rear ac system is a great idea with that green house of a back window area. The hose next to the spare tire is the condensation water drain. Look at the rust stain to the rt of the hose. There’s nothing on the road today that rides like this car!! Mom& dad had a ’70 Dodge Monaco, same package. Great road trip ride. This one’s a keeper!
I own a ’68 Polara I got in a trade for a Yamaha motorcycle I was selling a few years back. Best trade I ever made! Still own my Polara, fell in love with it as soon as I got her running. Rare car, gets more attention than my ’69 Chevelle that I love too!
