After writing up a Diablo kit car the other day, I found this Countach copy and now it’s the one I want! The seller claims it’s an exact copy dimensionally of the real deal. It sure looks good in photos and the colors are perfect. There are a few other surprises that make this copycat stand out. Find it here on eBay where it’s listed out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida with a $29,500 asking price.

Not surprisingly, this fiberglass replica is built on a Pontiac Fiero chassis. Surprisingly though, it’s powered by a small block V8. That means it might actually be fun to drive! Plus, unlike the original’s V12, replacement parts are available on every other corner. It might be a good idea to inspect the structure in person to see how it’s put together. Kit cars are always risky but some are better built than others.

The interior looks like someone took a Fiero and covered the surfaces with cardboard and vinyl. Then again, that’s pretty much how the real ones looked when they left Italy. The red upholstery does help though and the 5-speed shift knob is a welcome sight. It would be fun to take this one around the block to see how it actually drives.

There are probably better ways to blow $30k, but it would be fun to park this somewhere and watch people’s reactions. People assume that every 356 Speedster they see is a replica, but will that happen with this Lambo? I’ve seen a few Countaches on the street that I’m still not sure if they were real or not. Will the accurate shape and real Diablo rims fool anyone?

Cool, i would have not gone with a red interior.
Does it actually run, drive, and not over heat?
Just looks off. Dimensions may be right but it just doesn’t look right. Wrong angles?? The back tires look off also. Blue with red interior? I will keep my $30k.
I agree with 19Tiger65, it just doesn’t look right in the rear end, I think it sits too high. Regardless, I don’t like it anyway.
Yeah, it’s look right and wrong at the same time. One thing that may be throwing the proportions off is that typically the stock rims on a Countach are 15” and these I think are 17” which will give the car a different look.
I do love the Countach cars and would love to have a nicely done replica but getting in and out of these may be tough. I got into a Daytona Cobra replica one time and you have to be like a contortionist to get in and out. I have a Civic Type R and on some days getting in and out of that can be hard, hahah! 😂
I agree with you and Philbo427, it is the wheel size that is throwing off the look, mainly in the rear, but also in the front, but to a lesser extent. Factory tire sizes: Front size was 205/50-15 and Rear size was 345/35-15.
The factory Lamborghini Countach S, which this car is trying to emulate, had the wheel arch extensions extending past the tires and partially blocking the ability to see the topmost part of the rear tire. The “stance” of this particular car is WAY off. I and others I know have spent hours and even months trying to get a vehicles “stance” correct.
All of the inconveniences of driving a Countach, none of the glory.
It’s crazy to think back in the early 2000’s I had traded a used boat and 30k for a brand new boat, and then a tiny used car lot pops up and there were a couple Porches and a Mercedes as well, but the standout was a well used [100+ k miles] Ferrari 308 GTS in silver. Listed for 29,999$.
I never wished I had a spare 30k lying around more, but I was into motorcycles and boats running around in a big social circle, and I knew if I bought this car something would have to go, and none of my buddies were into cars and car meets so I passed.
Krazy what 30k reminds one of …
i woulda kept the fiero & put this engine in…
Countach! Such a hugely influential bit of automotive design, paving the path for future supercars. The Countach “Periscopo” was the first performance car too combine a 2-seat, longitudinal, mid-engine layout with radiators that had been moved to the engine end of the car… Which allowed for that lower nose. This was the world’s first true supercar as we know it. Credit Gandini for this huge leap forward. I own a couple Gandini cars (Renault R5 Turbo and Lancia Stratos) and true to the Gandini mindset, he didn’t just “draw cars”. He engineered them. Came up with solutions to problems that limited design constraignts. He was utterly brilliant and the Countach is often not given the credit it deserves…
DUCKNCOVER: You make some valid points, but either through forgetfulness, or intention, you left out the Miura, long regarded as the first supercar.
Nope, didn’t leave the Miura out. Like the Mercedes-Benz Gullwing, that often also gets credit for being the “worlds first supercar”, the Miura is not the worlds first supercar for one very simple reason. Transverse mounted engine. The Miura was however the world’s 2nd mid engine production car (with the first being the René Bonnet Djet in 1962). The true definition of a supercar is a mid-engine, 2 seater with a longitudinally mounted engine and radiators mounted midship. The Miura’s transverse mounted engine eliminates it from the supercar discussion (regardless what YouTube says…). The Miura’s transverse layout was copied by cars such as the Lancia Stratos, Ferrari 246 Dino, Toyota MR2 and Acura NSX all of which are also not supercars. The Lamborghini Countach was the first production car to have this longitudinal engine position with mid mounted radiators thus making it the first, true supercar. Every supercar since the Countach has followed this formula.
Nope! The interior looks like it was done in high school auto shop class with the buried door handles. It would look great at 20′ in the dark with the doors closed.
A Fiero…a great car (model depending) sacrificed for an out of proportion impostor? A lot of effort for ???
Closer than typical clones…but still a long ways to go to be convincing. And…red and blue? Interior needs to be redone anyway I guess!
First I wouldn’t drop $30k on this car I do think it’s kinda cool if it somehow fell in my lap i would do something with it that would mess with a lot of peoples minds just to see if I could do it and that would be dropping the 3cyl engine from a smart for two in it
Needs shag carpeting.
