The Barn Finds Racing Team, aka Austin Powerless Racing, will be in action again this weekend at the 24 Hours of LeMons race at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina. There is a possibility that this will be the Marina’s last race, as we have plans for a slightly faster but just as unreliable British car in the future. If you’d like to come out and see us and the rest of the racers, we’ll be racing from 10 am to 6:30 pm on Saturday and 9 am to 4 pm on Sunday. There’s also a race car parade and street fair in downtown Camden, South Carolina on Friday night from 6 to 9 pm, where BS Inspections take place from the LeMons Supreme Court. If you’ve never watched this, it’s good for a LOT of laughs. You can also follow race updates on our Facebook page throughout the weekend. Hope to see you there!

Good luck, and safe racing guys!
Looking forward to seeing some pics.
Keep the pedal to the metal and the shiny side—if there is one—UP.
It’s at least shinier… 😀 Thanks!
I spy with my little eye, something AMC….and GO!
Actually it’s an Austin Marina; not sure if BL or AMC came up with the door handle design first! 😀
Oh cool….I just googled it….what a neat little car…
Hey neat, where do I get a barnfinds decal like that?
Well that one is a one of a kind just for the Marina, but we could possibly have more made if people are interested! I will see about getting a batch made up!
Have fun!!!
looks/sounds like a lot of fun to me. would the new car be a TR7/8?
Yup…at least that’s the plan!
I didn’t know you had a Marina – quite possibly the worst handling car available in the 1970’s. Got luck with the corners…
Rich, it’s a long, long story…. 😀
Wish I could stop by but I have an early morning flight back home out of Columbus. Good Luck.
If you guys sold window sized “Barn Find” stickers. I would be interested in a few……
Interesting. As a Canadian I had never heard of the car and assumed they were never sold here.
A Google search shows that not only were the sold here, our market was targeted and as such Canada played a big part in the planning and testing including the track 40 minutes away. Sales here were similar to those in the US but with a fraction of your population that is significant.
Odd that I am entirely unfamiliar with a car that was born a year before me.
After a lot of trials and tribulations, some self-inflicted, some just due to trying to race a Marina (I guess that’s self-inflicted as well…) we ended up finishing second in class to an E30 BMW powered by a Mopar 225 slant 6 (yes, only in LeMons) and just in front of a fur-covered Gremlin. :-) We may have used up everything the car has to give, though…contemplating it’s future at the moment. Thanks to all for the words of encouragement!
Great work Jamie and team Austin Powerless! I can’t wait to hear more about the event and let us know what you decide to do with the Marina!
great job. i hope you had a lot of fun. a detailed write up of the car and its racing history would be interesting. also updates on the building of the new race car please.
Hi, Jim…I’ll be putting something together. We’re not sure exactly what we are doing car-wise from here…we may be doing something totally nuts…even more nuts than the Marina in it’s current form. Stay tuned! :-) And yes, we had a LOT of fun. I have terrific teammates!
