BF AUCTION: Red 1969 Buick Riviera GS

Sold for $875View Result

UPDATE – We asked John if he could get us a photo of the engine and with the help of a friend, he was able to get the hood opened. You can take a look at what he found below.

If you’ve missed it, we are helping Reader John O auction of his Dad’s collection of barn finds. His father obviously likes Rivieras, as he collected two of them. This bright red 1969 has been parked in the barn for a long time, so it’s going to need lots for work. That being said, it looks complete, comes with the keys and has a clear title. So, if you’ve been on the hunt for a red Riviera, this one is definitely worth a closer look! You can find it in Fort Wayne, Indiana and you can bid on it below.

From John – This red Buick Riviera was stored indoors but the atmosphere was damp at times. The results can be seen in the photographs, notably the interior. It does have a title and keys, so it could be fixed and enjoyed once more.

John was able to send over a photo of the engine. It turns out that this Riviera is the more desirable GS trim, with the 430. Unfortunately, the engine hasn’t fared the years well and it seems to be seized. He will keep us posted if he has any luck getting it to turn over by hand, but assume the worse.

As you can see, the interior is in pretty sad shape, but it looks complete otherwise. As long as there isn’t any serious rust and the engine isn’t beyond saving, this one seems like it would worth restoring. Rivieras have been trending up in value lately and this one is a really nice color combo. If you have any questions for John or would like photos of specific areas, please leave a comment and John will do his best to get back to you quickly!

I’ll see if John can snap some non-wide angle photos of it. He wanted to get the whole car in the photos, which is a challenge in a cramped barn!
