BF EXCLUSIVE: 54k Mile 2004 Jaguar XJ8

If you like your classic cars with a touch of old-world luxury, then it can be hard to go past a Jaguar. This 2004 Jaguar XJ8 is a beautiful example, and the owner has decided that the time has come to part with it. These are a car that combines the best of all worlds. They feature an engine that not only packs plenty of power, but they provide impressive levels of fuel consumption. The XJ8 is located in Fairfax, California, and is being listed exclusively here at Barn Finds. You could easily find the Jaguar parked in your driveway for a mere $7,800. You will find all of the contact details for this British classic at the bottom of this article.

The Jaguar is finished in Radiance Red, which I believe to be the nicest color offered in this model year. The paint holds a beautiful shine, with no apparent flaws or issues. The panels are straight, and the gaps are as tight as you might expect on a vehicle of this type. The alloy wheels are free from damage and stains, and this last point indicates a car that has been carefully maintained. There are no issues with the external trim, while the glass appears to be perfect. The styling of the XJ8 might appear to be quite traditional, but it brings some high-tech construction to the table. The body is all-aluminum, which means that rust is not an issue that needs consideration. It is primarily constructed using a combination of bonding and riveting, which makes the structure of the car extremely strong, durable, and safe.

Life inside an XJ8 is not a harsh existence. There are acres of soft and supple leather, plenty of walnut trim, and a level of isolation from the outside world that is eerie. The pale cream leather is in excellent condition, with no signs of any wear or marks. The same is true for the rest of the upholstery, the carpet, and the dash. There is nothing for the next owner to do but to sink back into those beautiful seats and enjoy the splendid isolation. Jaguar doesn’t let you down when it comes to the question of luxury appointments. This XJ8 features climate-controlled air conditioning, power windows, power locks, power seats, a glass sunroof, cruise control, airbags, and a premium CD stereo with controls on the adjustable leather and walnut wheel.

When we delve below the surface, we find that the XJ8 is about more than just good looks and luxury. Under the hood is a 4.2-liter V8 engine that produces 294hp. These horses find their way to the rear wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Jaguar also features 4-wheel independent suspension and 4-wheel power disc brakes with ABS. Yes, this is a luxury car. However, it is a luxury car that contemporary road tests confirmed can demolish the ¼ mile in 14.5 seconds. This owner has treated the XJ8 with respect, and it has been properly maintained. It has a genuine 54,566 miles showing on its odometer. It has recently been fitted with a new master cylinder and successfully passed the California Smog Check. The only issue that the owner notes is that it would benefit from a wheel alignment. Otherwise, this Jaguar is said to drive “as new.”

Hiding beneath that traditionally styled exterior is a 2004 Jaguar XJ8 loaded with technology, performance, and luxury. The XJ8 is a classic long-distance cruiser, and these are capable of consuming the miles with surprising ease. I can remember seeing a contemporary road test of the XJ8, and the journalist in question drove the vehicle for nearly 10-hours straight. The only breaks that he took were when he stopped to refuel the car. He claimed that he felt as fresh at the end of the test as he did when it started. That is the sort of motoring experience that this Jaguar could provide for its next owner, and that doesn’t sound too bad to me.

If you don’t mind the possible expenses that come with owning a vintage luxury vehicle, this one looks like as good of a buy as you can get.

The one advantage of this particular car is that it doesn’t have the factory touch screen nav nightmare. Here you can swap out the radio for a modern version, which isn’t possible with the factory nav.

Are these on the Taurus/sable frames? Always thought that and it looks like one. But rear wheel drive.

      That was the X Type.
They do have a striking similarity, which in mu mind sort of cheapens the XJ.

    It’s a nice 2004 used car, but still a 2004 used car. I don’t think it’s worth near $8k.

You can’t get this level of modern refinement, class, reliability (yes, reliability), V8 RWD and exclusivity for this price. If this was a supercharged XJR version of the same vintage, it would be selling at twice this price.

Well Rustytech, what can you buy for $8k that comes anywhere near the luxury and comfort this has? And that would get the admiration.

You get a Rolls when owned by BMW?? A Bentley when owned by VW?? That’s just crazy talk! Buy a old money pit instead – it’ll look so good as garage sculpture!
