Bird Sanctuary: 12 Thunderbird Find

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

1950’s and even early 60’s Ford Thunderbirds are great looking cars with a fair amount of luxury and style. Like many of us, this seller has amassed a collection of 12 Thunderbirds and is looking to offload one, if not more. Some of the cars are more promising than others, but I am willing to bet that he has some special items tucked away. With no listed price, you may wind up with more than one bird if you inquire. Check out these yard birds here on craigslist out of Williamstown, New Jersey. Thanks to Barn Finds reader and wildlife activist b walters for sharing these needy birds!

The focal point of the sales ad is this blue convertible which doesn’t appear to be too shabby, but certainly needs some work. Looking the car over the biggest issues I can see is filler in the rear wheel arch, and the spray painted interior. Sadly with a car like this the interior is valuable as finding nice condition pieces isn’t so easy. Looking at the body closely, the driver side door jamb and rocker look decent.

Taking a further look at this bird sanctuary you can see that there are some rough and very nice looking cars. If you are a Thunderbird owner and/or enthusiast there is certainly a possibility that this seller may have some pieces or parts that you need. When you begin to collect one type of car, it is amazing what you find, and how much of it follows you home. While most of these birds look to live outdoors, there are still some project worthy cars here that definitely need to get back on the road. Would you give one of these birds a new home?

Twelve cars but only three photos? Since I don’t post on Craiglist, how many photos can you put on an ad for free?

As far as “shabby” goes, well…..it doesn’t look very un-shabby…

It must be a Shabbylack, they are built by GM.

That can’t be a factory tonneau cover.

Maybe the black one over by the minivan. But for me as who I am that’s it.

I am thinking 12K for all of them if they are complete cars. These are rust buckets for the most part. But you could probably make a couple out of what is there and sell off the parts to recoup your money and maybe get a free car or two. IMHO

Has a stick but the stick is used to manipulate the automatic transmission, no clutch linkage

Wish I lived closer. I have 5 of the 63’s presently and could use some parts although my sweetheart would kill me. I will probably not live to see even one of them completed as I am now 74 and don’t have a place to work on them !
