Fans of finned Mopars and horror movie legends may want to take a second look at this worn but genuine 1958 Plymouth Belvedere. Located in Indiana and offered here on eBay with no reserve, this two-door hardtop isn’t just a parts car, it’s a rare survivor with potential for the right restorer or custom builder.

The seller states this Belvedere is all original and untouched, which makes it an ideal starting point for a faithful restoration or even a Christine tribute build. It’s powered by a 318 Poly V8, and impressively, the engine runs. The car will “yard drive” using the parking brake, and the three-speed TorqueFlite shifts into drive and reverse as expected. That’s already more than many barn finds can claim.

Now for the caveats: this is a rough car. The floor pans are essentially gone, the rockers are toast, and the passenger-side frame rail will need repair. That said, the seller believes the rest of the frame is salvageable, and there’s a decent amount of original trim included—most of the Sport Tone pieces, a front seat core, and a full set of Solex glass (minus the windshield). The desirable ribbed roof moldings are missing, but replacements do pop up from time to time.

Cosmetically, the car wears what appears to be its original black paint with some rust and plenty of patina, not to mention the dramatic forward-leaning quad headlamps and those unmistakable tail fins. It’s exactly the look that helped immortalize this model in pop culture, and would make a killer base for a movie car replica.

The listing notes that the car has a clean Indiana title in the seller’s name, and they’re open to helping with loading for transport. For buyers willing to take on a significant project or those just wanting a parts-rich donor with a VIN that checks out, this one may be worth chasing.

Is this the kind of car you’d restore to stock, build into a tribute, or preserve as-is for display?

Well if they ever wanted to make a sequel here we go.
Christine…Family Revenge
Featuring her cousin/brother?
Christian!
This car is eerily similar to the rusted-out Christine we see in the film’s opener.
What genius to use a ’58 Fury instead of say, a ’59 Cadillac or Chevy! These people knew their ’50’s finned cars. I’d watch “Christian”.
Why don’t you tell us what the current price is?
$3700. Now I understand why you don’t post the prices any more. Wow was that hard to do. Took me almost 20 seconds to find out what the price is.
It’s a no reserve auction so we don’t know what it will end up selling for. Why on earth did it take you 20 seconds to view the eBay auction? The link is in the first paragraph. If it’s taking your computer that long to load a page, you might want to have someone look at it.
Really?
Now we know where “Miss Belvedere” went…
It is in “Roscoe, Illinois” in a museum.
I was thinking Peter Gunn.
Bite your tongue! He drove New Yorker convertibles.
The series, not the character. He drove a convertible, everyone else a sedan. (I know, they were 4 doors. :/ )
Do we need yet another Christine clone? They all weren’t red and white. I’d love to see it restored to original.
Is this car the sibling of the car they pulled from that time capsule?
Could be. That one, called Miss Belvedere or Miss Belvie, was a really sad shame. They could’ve lifted a brand new car out of there. Instead, it was marinated in fresh water since a water main break in the 70s.
One year newer–that gold one was a `57.
That was an unfortunate fiasco.
The one in Oklahoma? No, that one was really rotted!!
Lost the passenger during the test drive…………LOL
New glass and some plywood floors, tune up, fix brakes and drive it with the nickname Rusty.
Now if it would restore itself like Christine did, I’d buy it…😬
I don’t think the original Christine had this much rust, but it sure was dented up, and then it was dented and smashed again before recovery to like new. Yes, only buy it if it includes that guarantee. Magic?
Steve King body shop…
A little touch up and it’s good to go.
Ran when parked.
For the love of God, please….not another Christine clone!
As for Peter Gunn, he drove either Belvidere or Sport Fury convertibles, with the exception of the pilot episode. For that, he drove a DeSoto hardtop.
The bad guys usually drove New Yorkers or Imperials….
What a piece of crap! Time to call the crusher!
I prefer Bobdog’s solution, above, to the crusher, pretty funny but I can relate.
Do you know you rare these things are now? In related news, 21 1980’s survivors were destroyed making the film.
You could letter on the trunk “Hiding From the Crusher” or “Next stop the Crusher” or “Destination Crusher” or “Crusher Bound” Which one do you like better or write another ?
Make sure your tetanus shot is up to date and you are wearing safety goggles and a respirator.
