Business Opportunity: 2012 Chevrolet Silverado Custom Coach

Stretch Limousines are a staple of the wedding industry, and most follow a familiar recipe: take an already large car and make it longer and more luxurious. This 2012 Chevrolet Silverado is undeniably different and could offer its new owner an excellent business opportunity. Brides dreaming of a fairy-tale wedding could arrive in their own Cinderella coach, and history shows they would be willing to pay for the experience. The Silverado has sat for a few years, so it will require some mechanical TLC before it is ready for action. I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder Roger for spotting this amazing classic listed here on eBay in West Palm Beach, Florida, for $19,900 OBO.

Some classics are designed to be taken seriously, while others reflect a creator’s unique custom flair. This Silverado falls into the second category, thanks to the builder’s decision to adopt an appearance reminiscent of Cinderella’s coach. With White paint and abundant ornate Gold trim, the look isn’t subtle. However, it is distinctive and is guaranteed to turn heads on the street. As a wedding vehicle, it is also remarkably practical, with power-operated steps and passenger compartment doors on both sides with wide openings that let occupants enter and exit fairly elegantly. The seller indicates the Silverado has been in long-term storage and may need some basic work to look its best. The exterior paint and trim are in good condition with no rust or other problems. Light surface corrosion in the trunk could be easily addressed, and the chrome wheels show slight deterioration. However, neither problem is insurmountable, and with no structural issues, turning this Chevy into a money-spinner should be relatively straightforward.

The Silverado’s passenger compartment shows attention to detail, from the brocade fabric trim and ruffled curtains to the leather upholstery. It is in good condition, consistent with the seller’s claim that this classic hasn’t seen much action. The ornate adjustable lights let occupants tailor their journey to their needs, while the air conditioning keeps the ride comfortable. Beyond the A/C, other creature comforts include the almost obligatory bar, stereo, and flat-screen TV.

The driver’s compartment is separated from the Silverado’s passenger area by what appears to be a soundproof screen, and while it isn’t ornate, it looks pretty comfortable. It features leather seats, separate air conditioning, power windows, power locks, cruise control, and an AM/FM radio. The driver’s seat shows wear, but since it isn’t developing holes, a leather specialist could breathe new life into it for a few dollars. No other cosmetic work is needed, and although the seller provides no engine bay images, the listing includes plenty of relevant information. Lifting the hood would reveal a 4.3-liter “Vortec” V6 developing 195hp and 260 ft/lbs of torque. A four-speed automatic transmission handles shifting, and the Silverado also has power steering and power brakes. The vehicle runs and drives, but has seen very little use since the builder created it in 2016. Dash warning lights suggest it will need a thorough mechanical inspection before it’s genuinely roadworthy.

I acknowledge that this 2012 Chevrolet Silverado won’t appeal to everyone, and the listing statistics suggest it hasn’t attracted as much attention as it would on the street. However, as a wedding vehicle or for transporting people to their Senior Prom, it would certainly stand out. I suspect that, if properly promoted, it could generate a very respectable income for its new owner for a relatively minimal outlay. The seller is also willing to negotiate, which may improve the financial situation. So if the 9-to-5 world is starting to wear thin, this 2012 Silverado could offer a great alternative to the daily grind.

  1. Let me be the first to comment; West Palm Beach, Florida? I would have guessed Las Vegas, Nevada. A close second – Orlando, with Disney World. A Disney Adult or a chagrinned Dad may pay big bucks to arrive at the park in…style?

I wish I could buy this and have a good reason for doing so. I have no idea what I’d use it for other than a daily driver, but even so, it would really be something to have and drive.
