Car Guy Gift Guide

Christmas is right around the corner and if you are anything like us, you are probably just getting around to your gift shopping. There is nothing like the pressure of shipping deadlines and long lines to get you in the spirit. This year we thought we would put together a little gift guide for the car guy in your life. Well… that is probably you, but perhaps you could forward this list to a significant other. Continue reading for our selection of Barn Finds approved gifts.

While others are busy watching football, you could be spending the New Year with the king of car hunters, Wayne Carini. Follow Wayne as he jet sets around the world looking for rare automobiles. Whether he is digging a SAAB out of a barn or bidding on a million-dollar Ferrari, it is always exciting. He is a down to earth guy who doesn’t seem to have gotten caught up in the idea of being on TV, so the show is free from the sometimes annoying antics so common on other shows today. This 16 DVD set was available at Costco last year for a steal, but we haven’t seen it this time around. Amazon is sold out too, so you might check eBay or PBS.

All car guys need a calendar to hand on the wall of their garage. So, why not get them the best? Here it is, the 2014 Barn Finds calendar! Every photo was taken by one of our dedicated readers and all the proceeds go back into making this site better. You can pickup a copy here on Lulu for $20, but you had better hurry because today is the cutoff date if you want it delivered before Christmas.

The Little Red Racing Car may be a children’s book, but I have a feeling that daddy will enjoy this one too! With illustrations like this, it has to be good! The story is about a father and son team who rescue a long lost race car. We have followed the development of this book, so we were excited when it arrived the other day. We can honestly say that the finished product was not a disappointment. It is a high quality offering that your child… and you will cherish for years to come. Hey, even Sir Stirling Moss approves!

Finally, how could we present a gift guide without mentioning the In the Barn books? We have been featuring stories from these great books every Sunday for months now so if you follow this site then you are probably familiar with them. Each book is crammed full of tales handpicked by Tom Cotter, so you can be assured that any car guy will enjoy them. You can view the entire lineup here on Amazon. If you want to make sure this one is under the tree on Christmas morning, we still have a bunch of copies to give away, so the first 23 people to email us with their name, address, and book choice will receive a free one!

This is just a small sampling of possible gift ideas suitable for a car guy, so we want to hear what you all want for Christmas. Let us know in the comments below.

I found a 1985 Ford F150 XL Explorer in a barn this fall. It had been in the barn since the owner was killed in a car accident in 1990.Had been painted six months prior and a crate 300 six cyl, carb type installed(don’t know why the 302 fuel injection was replaced)Has 40k on body and 20 k on motor. When the elderly womans son was killed at 23 years old she had it prepped(gas drained, furnace oil in cylinders, under coated, etc.) and the built a building around it in the barn where it rested till I brought it home this fall. Not your antique(One year to go in Canada) or exotic sports car(I drive a 1963 Volvo 1800S in the summer) but a very clean barn find! Wanna see some pics? Bob

I want peace in the world. I want to thank you for a fun year on BF. I want to get my gearbox sorted on my Vair, but I am driving it quite a bit & having fun with it, it so old that most people have know clue what it is, I get a lot of honks, waves & surprised looks when they see a turbo charger sitting on top of this motor.
