Spotting the words “deal” and “Mopar” in the same sentence is a rare occurrence nowadays, but this 1973 Dodge Charger just might be one of the better buys out there right now in the third-generation marketplace. Granted, this one’s gonna need a fuel pump at minimum to be operational, but the asking price of $8,000 sounds quite reasonable for what we’re seeing here, IMHO. This appears to be a case where the seller simply got bored with the car. He reportedly lost interest rather quickly, as his ownership has lasted only about one year. This one was born back in the good old seventies period when a big block was still a possibility, but there’s no 440 under the hood here, just a 318. However, that helps keep this one affordable, and it’s said to have been running great until the fuel pump failed. Perhaps replacing that component will get the small block going again, but installing something larger in the bay might be a more rewarding idea for the long run.
There’s not much specific information provided about the exterior, other than that the body has rust in some areas. It’s also not disclosed how long ago the red paint was applied, nor whether any significant work has been performed on the sheet metal. Although it’s not perfect, this one doesn’t look all that bad outside, at least from a distance, and I wouldn’t be ashamed to drive it around for a while before taking the panels to a higher level and spraying on some fresh paint.
One already strong area here is the interior, which is said to have been redone, with the seats featuring a combination of black and bright red vinyl. The dash and door panels also appear satisfactory, but the headliner has been removed, so sourcing one and installing it will be an afternoon well spent. This one is claimed to have only 52,932 miles, so if the odometer reading is accurate, that’s really low for a vehicle more than 50 years old. I’m seeing lots of potential here for not a whole lot of money, and feeling this 1973 Dodge Charger is likely a very good deal. What do you think?
Not often one sees a bargain on BF, but this appears to be one.
Fuel pump, eh? On those that’s an easy fix so there’s something else keeping the mill from waking up. And just over 50k miles? That’s a bit dubious too. Throw in some likely rust issues. I think the owner paid less for this and let it sit, and is selling higher to make a buck. Can’t blame him there. I guess if ya gotta have a Mopar, you’ll give 8k for this. Count me out.
i think putting a bench seat and column shilter in these ‘hot rods’ is just sad… about as lame as all the newer chargers only coming in 4-door…
But it wasn’t. This was/is just a 318 grocery getter (with potential). Not a muscle car. Not a hot rod.

Yep, the latest gen Dodge Charger (gen 8) is available as a 2 or 4 door. You don’t know about them because you probably haven’t seen one.
The 2025’s were electric only and the 2026’s can have either electric or gas engines. They are 50K to start.
The 4 doors are bad enough, but then they had to change the back door glass to two piece to really ice the cake.
Pugsy, there is a wonderful invention that you are using called the internet that you can transport to the Dodge website (dodge.com) and actually see what they offer for choices of two or four doors on the Charger.
This is a mess. Lots of overspray, not running even though the fix is easy and inexpensive and a highly doubtful mileage claim. The asking price may seem inexpensive, but it’s not cheap. It’s worth a look for someone that lives close bye, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up. There are a lot of pigs with lipstick on the market.

I think this is a very covered up project, to many things don’t sound right. Right off the bat this person doesn’t even know what year it is, the 6th digit of the vin is a 4 which means it’s a 1974! It was built August 1973. It looks like they throw a cheap paint job on it to hide stuff, painted over things that should not have paint like trunk lock. It’s also missing the door weather stripping, that they probably removed to fix rust and broke the clips to reinstall it. This needs to be throughly checked out if you’re interested in it! It’s probably a good price if it’s not rotted out. Buyer be ware!!! Good luck

So this is what the rust o leom spray can paint jobs look like . Steve said it correct. A pig with red lipstick ! It would cost extra $$$ just to strip that crud off. Looks like a 150 ft car to me .
Chrysler recently came out with a two door Charger some come with a 3liter six cylinder with dual turbos .I believe it is a straight six they are quite expensive
If it’s just a fuel pump on a car like this that should be nothing to repair and get running again. Like others have said, bunch of red flags here. Even for $8k I wouldn’t take it, but I’m sure someone will eventually.
Not really that bad of a price if the car has spent it’s life in the south.i would have to see in person if the car was local to me in Illinois it would likely be a total rust bucket if not the price would be more
