Demand in the marketplace for the second-generation Pontiac Firebird seems as strong as ever, with even nice condition base model cars exchanging hands for some good money nowadays. It’s going to take an engine and other work before this 1976 Firebird is ready to be back on the road, but all things considered, it seems priced fairly at only $2,500. This one can be spotted here on Craigslist in Scio, New York, and might make a good project for those budget-conscious hobbyists who have the skills to perform the needed repairs here. Mitchell G., we thank you for another excellent tip here!

The seller mentions that his F-Body was shipped to New York in 2014, but it had previously resided in California, and the body doesn’t really look all that bad overall. Some of the panels have gotten body filler repairs in the past, but the sheet metal appears reasonably solid overall, with no obvious rust in the lower extremities. I can’t tell if that’s a dent in the driver’s quarter or just a reflection on the paint, but even if that area is damaged, it could probably be smoothed out. The grille section, front bumper, and an aftermarket fiberglass Formula hood are all present and included in the sale.

While it’s several notches below perfect, the interior appears a lot better than I was expecting for the price, with those front buckets seeming to live up to the excellent condition they’re described as. The console is missing the storage door, and the carpet should have been replaced years ago. However, with the low initial investment, there’ll hopefully be funds remaining to get this one looking fresh again on the inside. Some rust in the floorboards is also mentioned, so patching or new floor installation will also be on your to-do list here.

A Chevrolet 350 was in the bay when the seller acquired this one, but there’s just unoccupied space there now, so the next owner will have to decide what to install that will best suit their performance desires. A Turbo 350 transmission will come with the car, but no word on its condition. This 1976 Pontiac Firebird needs quite a bit of other work in addition to an engine, but for $2,500, I’m not finding a whole lot to be negative about here. How about you?

Here is your prime candidate for an LS engine.
But, wishful thinking in CA I’m afeared….. Haven’t read the final version of Leno’s Law but….. got my doubts…. Maybe if you insure it as a horseless carriage, limit RPM to 743.0, only drive in gay parades on Wednesday mornings and it’s gotta run on kerosene which you can purchase annually in a single 55 gallon drum. Other than that it’s just like cruising at Al’s in Modesto or runnin’ J and K downtown Sacto….. And don’t play Steppenwolf tooo loud…
$25.00 seems to be more in line for what it’s worth.
I’d already have made arrangements if it wasn’t an $1800 transport bill from home but I’ve spent more on less.
