Collection Sell-Off: Corvette 427, Mercedes 450SEL And More!

This listing for a trio of collector cars up for sale on craigslist in Seattle shows a familiar backdrop, as we previously featured another car from this seller. Now, he’s apparently unloading several other cars, which includes a 1975 Mercedes-Benz 450SEL along with a 1969 Chevrolet Corvette featuring a four-speed manual and 427. There’s also a 1931 Ford Model A that’s been completely restored and presents as new. The cars are all listed with prices ranging from $15,000 to $30,000. The vehicles are listed here on craigslist on the Seattle craigslist page, and thanks to Barn Finds reader Pat L. for the find.

The W116 chassis Mercedes sedans are fairly plentiful on the used market, and while prices haven’t risen much over the last few years, enthusiasts are willing to pay fair money for a nice one. There are plenty of dogs out there, and given these flagship, sedans were delivered during the malaise era, buying a rough one is hardly worth it.

This example doesn’t appear rough at all, with the listing noting it’s been owned by the seller for 45 years and was repainted “decades ago.” Photos indicate the interior is in good shape overall, with a surprisingly stain-free headliner and sheepskin covers protecting the front buckets. The Mercedes is listed for $15K.

The Corvette is likely the most appealing car of the group, depending on your preference for vintage muscle cars. The seller notes it is equipped with a four-speed manual and 427 big block engine and was also owned by the sellers/owners for quite some time. The Corvette isn’t original, sporting a respray that the seller contends was not done to a high-level many years ago, but he also mentions that everything else on this car remains as the factory intended. There are no records with the Corvette, but at least it’s pretty clearly an un-messed with example that needs some basic R&R. The asking price is $30,000.

The Model A is the best of the bunch, benefitting from a complete restoration some years ago. Incredibly, it’s been with the owner for 75 years, as he bought this exact car in high school and then proceeded to use it for cruising to events and other activities. The listing reports that the Model A benefits from various upgrades that make it more pleasant to use in modern traffic, but the details are left unsaid. This is a very pretty specimen, and while the audience for this era of vehicle is getting smaller, I’m sure someone will take a chance on it with the asking price of $25K.

Am I the only one that finds it very odd………….The sellers goes into great detail of how much he is a “car guy”, restores cars for a living, knowledge of cars and knows exactly what the Corvette (an other cars listed) are worth but “ASSUMES” the Corvette is a L-36 and doesn’t provide any photos of the frame (basic vintage Corvette 101). How in the world can someone “claim” the entire car is original but “ASSUME” but be clueless of which motor in in the car?
