It’s always a bit sad to see listings like this: a court-ordered sale by declaration of bankruptcy, reflecting a project gone too far or other expenses that have piled up before this 1968 Chevy Corvette convertible here on eBay could be completed. Don’t get me wrong – if you don’t have the funds in the bank, taking on a restoration project is a foolish idea – but just as easily, the former owner may have fallen on hard times due to medical expenses or otherwise. The car comes with a small block and 4-speed, but there are a lot of parts missing since the ‘Vette was in the middle of a seemingly messy restoration. There are 74 bids up to $5,600 and the reserve unmet, so clearly the unknowns aren’t deterring some bidders. Would you take a chance on a car seized by the court system, or is it too risky of a bet?
In my opinion it is already way overbid considering all the missing parts.
I agree with Chuck, those missing parts on a Corvette can get pretty expensive to replace and it seems to me it’s not a highly desireable model as far as options go.

chevrolet put some odd color combinations together for corvettes in 1968 (le mans blue with a tobacco interior anyone? :-o but the numbers from the trim tag do not make sense.
according to the ebay listing the trim tag reads:
trim = 425 which is dark orange
paint = 992 which is maroon
except according to corvsport that combination was not offered. the only way you could get dark orange was to order tuxedo black or rally red. the car looks rally red but that paint # is 974 – not even close to the 992 in the ebay ad.
hopefully i’m reading all that correctly. either a special order, a repaint, a changed interior or a mistake in recording the trim tag info.

At $4k it is a deal and a spares car . Especially considering the VIN plate is missing . Having restored a similar car you are up for a stupid amount of money to get it back to basic running shape . Way over priced
sold at $6101. no i would not buy from court system, to many unknowns. like how long do you have to wait for car plus title and how long does the owner have to reclaim car. interesting find.
