The seller of this 1989 Chevy Corvette apparently ran a small used car lot for a time before hanging up his wheeler-dealer ways. Now, he’s got left-over inventory that has presented him with some storage troubles and made it necessary to extricate cars like this stock ‘Vette from his collection. Fit it here on eBay with an opening bid of $3,250 and a few issues noted by the seller.
In addition to its dusty condition, the seller notes that the roof glass is cracked and the clearcoat is peeling. This is likely due to a time in which the remaining dealer inventory was stored in an old tobacco barn, which suffered heavy damage during an ice storm and left the cars exposed. As a result, the seller built a new building to house the cars in but the damage was already done. The battery is also dead and there’s a flat tire.
I agree with the seller that this color interior is quite unusual. It’s hard to say whether it’s original, but the matching carpets would indicate it is. Although some folks may not get too worked up over rare factory color schemes, this could make this particular ‘Vette a tad more interesting to a potential buyer if this is a rarely seen shade of blue on Corvette interiors. All told, the interior looks decent despite the rough cosmetics outside.
Here, the seller has pictured his other vehicles for sale from the used car lot. They include: a 1970 Monte Carlo, 1973 Lincoln Mark IV, 1980 Jeep CJ7, and 2001 Ram 2500. All of those vehicles are on eBay as well, so the seller is clearly in the mood to clean house. Although this 1989 Corvette is rough around the edges, the opening bid seems fair for the condition and there is no reserve listed.
I checked out the Monte Carlo in the background on eBay. it is supposed to be a factory 4 spd can’t be too many 70 Montes with a 4 spd…
A first generation Monte Carlo with a factory 4-speed? Looks like a fascinating potential future BF posting!
The opening bid is about as high as I’d go on this one. If it presented itself well in person.
One of the least desirable Corvettes, the opening bid is undoubtedly the sellers hope … I doubt he will see it !
Agreed. $1000 for a new top alone. Walk past this one quickly.
The blue interior was on the factory color pallet (albeit in various shades), for several years over the C4’s run (1984-1992).
I would much rather have the 1970 Monte Carlo…
The car in question is the Corvette. 1989s had 245hp & 340 ft/lbs of torque. 0-60 in 5.4 seconds, 14.42 in the 1/4mile. Find me another car that will do that – for $3K. Yes it’s rough and has some issues and will never be worth what a 4-speed Monte is worth.
Just noticed something interesting. Mileage noted is claimed to be off the title as the battery is dead. This is one with the Atari dash – the odometer is a mechanical unit on the top right of the instrument cluster. It’s there and readable whether you have a dead battery or not.
Correct, but the numbers are very small… :-)
I would pass on this headache. Buy a real good one for 7000 and be done with it.
