Introduced in 1959, the Electra became Buick’s top-of-the-line car, on par with the Oldsmobile 98 and Pontiac Bonneville. Replacing the Roadmaster nameplate, the Electra ran through 1990, and the “225” edition earned the nickname “Deuce and a Quarter”. The seller has a sharp-looking ’69 Electra 225 with a quirky interior package and a 455 cubic inch V8. Located in Mount Vernon, Washington, this black-on-red big Buick is available here on craigslist for $7,400. Thanks for the land yacht tip, “Curvette”.

The redesign of 1965 brought larger dimensions to the Electra, with the cars coming in at around 225 inches in length. So, the size of the car now matched its name (and vice versa). Another heavy restyle came in 1969-70 for the Electra and other B and C-body General Motors cars. Greater safety measures took effect with the addition of headrests and a locking steering column.

Electra’s relied on a 430 cubic inch V8 for years, and the 455 debuted in 1970. The seller says this car has a 455, so is it a replacement, or did a 455 get into some of the 1969 Buicks? Since the odometer has turned over to 102,000 miles, an engine swap wouldn’t be out of the question. Naturally, a TH-400 automatic transmission is here along with all sorts of power goodies, such as the seats and windows. The Buick came with factory air conditioning, but that was removed long ago.

Some work has been done on this vintage vehicle, which includes the brakes, transmission, a tune-up, and a rebuilt carburetor (they kept the original Rochester, which the buyer can have). The limited photos provided focus on the interior and its interesting upholstery pattern which looks like a redo to me. If you have a soft spot for these 225s, 2-door hardtops like this were built in smaller quantities than the 4-doors.
