The seller of this V12 E-Type coupe says that after reworking the engine, clutch and brakes, a quick patch job on the floor was all that was needed to enjoy the car for the summer. I’m not clear why they are then selling the car, but maybe one of you wants it! It’s for sale here on eBay with bidding at $2,700 with reserve not yet met. It’s located in Caspar, California. The ad describes the car as having the “usual rust”, which isn’t inspiring on an E-Type. The seller has sourced the necessary new and used body panels but doesn’t list them (they do invite you to contact them to get a detailed list of parts that are included). The interior is usable for a driver, but you’d want to replace both the front and rear if you restored the car. A lot of this car’s value will be in the parts; I wish they had been listed in the ad. There is a full set of SU’s the seller suggests using to replace the Strombergs. I realize I’m in the minority, but I prefer Strombergs to SU’s, so I’d be selling the set. What would you do with this coupe, and what do you think it’s worth?

It’s still there; I think just the link is broken. Here it is:

Hi Guys: – this ad was pulled – non-payment. Car has been re-listed; perhaps you can tie into new (higher) priced link
Car is interesting, but redo may be too costly.
OK someone beat me to the question.
Upside:
– It’s a running, driving E-Type with manual transmission
– Looks pretty good inside and outside
– Comes with lots of parts including body panels and SS exhaust system
– Cheap way into a great looking car with a V12 engine
Downside:
– Comes with lots of parts including body panels
– Has a “solid body” but with the “usual rust”
– Conclusion: it has rust you can’t see in the photos.
– Has the V12, not the DOHC six, so will run smooth (when running properly) but that big V12 will be a bear to fix when you need to.
My kinda guy, Mark II next to it, an Airstream in the yard… I like it. Too bad its out west, very tempting.
p.s. i prefer strombergs too!
Always beware when the phrase ” rust in usual places” is not accompanied of photos of the said rust spots.
Sell the engine and carbs, call Jaguars That Run for an installation kit, and drop in a small block chevy?
