However, it still looks pretty promising, regardless of those listing shortcomings. You will find the Charger here on eBay in Cave Creek, Arizona. The seller set their price at $66,900, and it appears that figure is pretty firm.
Dodge released its Second Generation Charger in 1968, following a more conventional path with styling and interior features compared to its predecessor to reduce the sticker price and increase sales volumes. The strategy was successful, because while the company sold 15,788 Chargers in 1967, that figure rocketed to 96,100 in 1968. This first-year example looks like a gem finished in Metallic Blue. The paint appears to shine like a mirror, cloaking laser-straight panels. One close-up shot shows a small chip, but that may be the extent of its cosmetic shortcomings. Being from a dry region, this Charger might have avoided the rust issues that sometimes plague these classics. The interior trunk shot shows some minor surface corrosion, but no evidence of developing steel penetration. The trim is in beautiful condition, and the glass is clear.
Disappointingly, the only engine bay image supplied by the seller shows the area around the air conditioning compressor and the water pump. However, the VIN and “Item Specifics” section of the listing confirm that it features a 318ci V8, teamed with a three-speed TorqueFlite transmission, power steering, and disc brakes. The 318 was the least potent V8 offered by Dodge to 1968 Charger buyers, but with power and torque figures of 230hp and 340 ft/lbs, it wasn’t a bad performer. The seller isn’t very forthcoming with their information, revealing that they recently fitted a new speedometer cable and starter. They state that the car drives as nicely as it did when new, making it a turnkey proposition for its new owner.
Air conditioning, bucket seats, a console, and an AM radio should make life aboard this Charger fairly pleasant. Piecing together the images paints a pretty positive picture, with the seats seemingly free from wear and physical damage. The seller recently replaced the upper door trims, meaning that the remaining upholstered surfaces present nicely. I can’t spot any issues with the dash or pad, but there is a headliner tear near the passenger-side rear sail panel. The seller doesn’t mention any functional issues, revealing that they recently recharged the A/C.
It is disappointing that the seller isn’t more forthcoming with information about this 1968 Dodge Charger, and that the listing images aren’t better. It looks like it could be an absolute gem, and that the buyer could slip behind the wheel with their head held high. Addressing the lack of a full side picture(s), I wonder if the seller is planning on changing the current wheel and tire combo to a stock whitewall and hubcap? Right now, it has what *looks* to be a pair of BFG Radial T/As up front – and possibly a Cragar S/S with Spinner center cap, while the rear tires are Winston brand “Winner G/T”. Plus that body side molding looks atrocious.

Agree totally. I saw a ’68 once that had the same body molding tacked on to it. Looks horrible and kills the beautiful aesthetics of the body lines.
Its nice to see a regular Charger from 68 in very nice condition… but, lousy photos!!! Its like the seller is hiding something! Repeat photos engine picture is a joke. No side shots with the wheels. Again hiding something. And you are asking almost 67Gs really??!! Interior shots are lousy also. We know its a 318 good engine nothing special. Your description is very vague!! The only way you can sell this Mopar is more photos not duplicate shots. And realistic price. Good luck.. 🇺🇸🐻
In-person inspection needed. The car carries an Illinois plate, an area very unfriendly to cars due to road salt. On the surface, it does look nice and this is my favorite year of Charger.
$67,000 for a 318. Wow! I’ve owned several 318 cars in my day, including a 1970 Challenger that cost me $700 back in 1987, as well as a 1969 Fury II ($200 back in 1986) and a 1972 Charger Topper X ($1,800 in 1984 in mint condition with 66,000 miles on it). So it’s hard to wrap my head around the price, but the 318 is a good motor, and great if they can get it. GLWS!

the 68s are hard to find. this looks nice but it’s priced in B/B R/T numbers. they may get it, but it may take some time. really poor ad as far as pics and info. sounds to me it’s the i really don’t want to sell it price.
Maybe if it was the actual car that Dennis drives in the movie Christine could it be worth the asking price. But, his had a black vinyl top.
I bought my beautiful ’69 Charger R/T for $13k back in 1990. I know prices on these now are ridiculous but it’s hard to fathom a base 318 Charger at $67K. Agree, terrible ad. Big lack of good photos and almost no information given. As has been mentioned, it’s got a IL. plate on it so how long was it there? I’d want to see full underbody photos. ’68 is my favorite year for Charger’s but even if it’s as clean as it looks I just can’t grasp that asking price. Not that he might not get it still.
I can’t grasp the asking price either, but every time there is a used up rusty 68-70 Charger they sell for more than most on this site predict. I’m cheap and always have been, that made me become a value shopper, there is no shortage of desirable cars at reasonable prices, there never has been.
I wouldn’t trust this car either, the lack of clear pictures and thorough description might be lack of effort, but that’s the same sort of thing someone selling a rusty pig would do. Leaving the potential buyer to fill in the blanks, often favorably.

I’d be careful with this seller. Besides their lack of information and pictures they have zero feedback and this listing from Cave Creek shows Illinois plates on the car, and they also have a Dodge Monaco Couple that’s shown as being IN Chicago.
