Bidding ends today on what looks like a clean 1984 Alfa Romeo GTV6 that benefits from what appears to be a ton of recent maintenance. This is one of those cars that remains attainable for mere mortals and may be a signal on a broader level that 1980s-era Alfas are going to remain in the same price braket for the foreseeable future. That’s certainly not a ding on its merits, as these are fantastic driver’s cars with a fair amount of pedigree that others 80s import brands can’t touch. Check out this Alfa GTV6 here on Hagerty Marketplace where it’s sitting at just under $7,000 with a few hours left.

One of the best litmus tests for how pretty a car is can be performed via the following method: does it wear ugly, U.S.-mandated safety bumpers? Yes. Does it still look good? Yes. There you have it! These park bench-style bumpers marred many fine designs, but Alfas of this era somehow were beautiful enough to move past the unfortunate adornment. One of my favorite details of these older Alfa models were the delightfully simple yet beautiful Campagnolo alloy wheels, which remind us that wheels don’t have to be “busy” to be stunning. Despite being imported into Canada many years ago, and returning to the U.S. fairly recently, the Alfa appears to remain rust-free.

The Recaro-style (or were they actual Recaros?) seats show plenty of wear, but they look nicely patina’d versus beaten up. Overall, they’re in usable condition and as a major selling point of the GTV6, it’s great to see them so well-preserved despite this car not being a low-mileage specimen. The netted headrests get a lot of folks excited whether found in a Saleen Mustang Fox body or a GTV6, and it’s always a shame when they’re plundered from the car in question. Based on service records in the listing, it appears the owner has spent a fair bit of money getting the air conditioning to work – a major perk in any vintage car.

Now, when it comes to old cars and Carfax, the two don’t often play nicely. In the case of this Alfa, both a salvage certificate (from when the car was nearly new) and an odometer rollback are noted, both of which indicate some screw-up at the DMV versus actually being destroyed and/or having an odometer tampered with. Regardless, this can spook buyers, but hopefully potential suitors can look at the amount of work done to this beautiful Busso V6-equipped Alfa to write the Carfax off as a secretarial error. The sonorous sounds emitted by this 160 horsepower engine should be more than enough to ignore any lingering concerns about past clerical entries.

Beautiful car, congrats to buyer. Forgot all about these. Car and Driver articles had my younger self desiring a GTV6, and seeing the title brought that back. Bet its a blast to drive
Ditto! 1st thing to try and find though would be Eurospec bumpers IMHO.

A beautiful car. I spent time in an Alfetta. But never had the chance to drive one of these. They can park it my driveway and hand me the keys. I will take very good care of it! (Honest!)
