The reality is there are numerous cars and trucks of questionable value because they are so costly to maintain. And, if you combine this trait with the fact that many high-end vehicles are not looked after as carefully when they’re used as when they are new, it’s not illogical to assume it’s a potentially risky purchase. However, if you do want to buy a car like a late-model Bentley or Rolls-Royce, finding one that’s been owned by an enthusiast is actually a pretty shrewd move since these six-figure sedans are known to be overbuilt. This 1999 Bentley Arnage Green Label listed here on craigslist belongs to a member of the Rolls-Royce and Bentley owner’s clubs, and the asking price is $34,500.

Thanks to Barn Finds reader Tony Primo for the find. What’s even more compelling about this example is the seller’s mentioning of the fact that it scored 391/400 possible points when judged at the 2024 RROC annual meet Concours competition. That’s pretty great, and the interior condition certainly reinforces just how nicely preserved this stately sedan is. I’m not sure what happens that third- and fourth-tier owners typically treat these luxury sedans poorly beyond simply being able to keep up with the maintenance. Can’t you still protect the leather and keep the paint buffed, even if you can’t afford the latest repair?

Sadly, the answer typically seems to be a resounding “No.” In addition to the obvious benefit of an enthusiast owner showing a level of TLC that’s above-typical, there’s also the plus of them knowing a thing or two about the marque. The seller wisely points out that the Green Label is the “….technician’s choice for reliability, handling, braking and lower maintenance costs.” With the BMW-sourced V8, running costs are typically lower than the conventional Rolls-Royce/Bentley powerplant, but that doesn’t negate the need to keep up with fluids and hydraulic services, both of which the seller confirms have been addressed in recent months.

Really, this is just a gorgeous car all the way around, with the chrome wheels in perfect condition and no obvious cosmetic faults. The seller notes that it will come with a large binder of service records, which is another plus to buying from an enthusiast. Other recent repairs include a suspension service with control arms and spring insulators replaced, along with the later-model wheels and pricey Michelin Pilot Sport tires installed. These rarely appear for sale with the right kind of owner and a fair price, so I’d move quickly if you’re in the market.
