Estate Sale Find: 1955 Ford Fairlane Victoria

1955 Ford Fairlane Victoria

This 1955 Ford Fairlane Victoria was recently purchased at an estate sale. The seller doesn’t provide much information, but the car does look clean and original in the photos. A tuneup was done recently, but it still needs tires, brakes, and exhaust. So as long as there isn’t a bunch of rust underneath, this should be an easy project that anyone could take on. Plus, with a 272 V8 under the hood and a handsome exterior, how could you go wrong with this fifties cruiser? It’s located in Clinton, Iowa and is listed here on craigslist for $6,200. Thanks goes to Robert R. for the submission!

Nice body and interior. Is the engine a secret?

Seller does not mention the missing tail light lens, makes me wonder what ELSE he isn’t mentioning…

Body looks decent along with interior but I agree WHAT no engine pics, maybe it’s missing like the tail light lens. I would definitely have to ask for engine bay pics and maybe some shots of the under carriage before paying his price.

Yes, it’s annoying that there are no engine bay or underside pics, but if I was in the area there’s enough in this listing to make me want to check this one out. If the seller says he just did a tuneup and that it runs, you’re way ahead of the usual lack of info in CL ads because you know you can start it and yard-drive it, and that will tell you a lot about the car.

It’s been painted at some point but the doors/door jambs and trunk lid/trunk look pretty good, and consistent with only 85K miles and good storage conditions.

If someone wanted a decent mid-’50s driver that wasn’t a bottom of the line model for affordable money this Fairlaine Victoria could be it. I can think of a lot of vintage cars that I’d like to find in this condition for the price of this car.

Finally a decent looking possibility! A little high on the price as usal but what the hey. Why doesnt someone find one near SoCal?

This red vicky glasstop was seen hereabouts last week.

Woodie Man I think there out there but the sellers are shipping them to the Midwest rustbelt because we don’t have any rust free barn finds so they can triple their money.

I bought one just like this one in 1961. Graduated high school in 1960 and I wonder if the one in the CL ad has been repainted. Back in the day I think all the Victorias were two toned. I never saw a yellow one back then.

My Dad had a ’55 2 dr sedan in blue. He would have called this car ‘taxi cab yellow’.

It has been repainted. I don’t know whether every one of these came from the factory in 2 colors like the ones in the photos above, but they sure look better if they are painted that way. And definitely not all-over canary yellow.
