EXCLUSIVE: 1965 Pontiac “Luxury” GTO

From The Seller: It’s a 1965 GTO! This is my brother’s GTO. He has had it for about 15 years and just never got around to restoring it. The car has always been in storage and has been taking up space in my shop for three years but now has to go. It’s a true GTO and papers come with the car. This is a rare GTO because unlike most “high performance” GTOs, the original owner of this one went for luxury. It’s equipped with air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, auto transmission, and the very rare power windows. The car cranks over but I have not done anything to actually start it. This car will need the brakes and gas tank/lines checked before driving. The car appears to have had a repaint sometime before my brother owned it. I have included a lot of pictures and the car also has the radio (AM) and I believe the A/C vents also. He has the rear bumper but its dented. He also has a good amount of N.O.S. PARTS, that he is willing to offer the buyer of the car at a GOOD price, including an AM/FM radio, wheels and trim rings and centers (the four hub caps – like the picture and included with the car), chrome exhaust tips, and a list of other parts. If the buyer doesn’t want the extras he will be selling them later.

We hope this GTO goes to a good home where it will be enjoyed! If any of you are interested, please use the form below to contact Tim.

Click on one of those and it will expand. There are 80 which can be played in a slide show, or indexed one at a time.

My only suggestion regarding the photos is to get better lighting and retake some, in particular the ones showing the condition of the headliner and interior.

Looks to me like this could be a nice car. My personal attitude is that “If I were a serious buyer” I’d want to buy everything for one price, instead of picking up the additional parts piecemeal.

My brother would like to sell everything together, and it would be the buyers best interest to pick it all up at one time for the additional cost. He just doesn’t want to give away parts for nothing. and YES he does know I have the car up for sale LOL LOL and he owes me the $50 for doing it also.
He is 70 now and he knows he just won’t get to it.

This is the type of car people like restoring. Almost everything is on the car, nothing major has been disassembled, and there are no real big modifications either. The price is a bit steep for the 1st time restorer tinkering in his/her garage.

Have to agree the price is too steep, I would say $10k over the realistic price, also it is a deal breaker for me personally as it is missing the all important 4 spd. I do however like all the creature comforts that came factory, PS,PW,PB, and A/C. A labor of love for the restorer and could easily cost you $40k to do it justice.
Best year first generation GTO IMO.

This year is, in my opinion, the best looking GTO ever built and this particular car is dripping with very desirable options. If it were put back together and cleaned up it would be worth a little closer to the exorbitant price it’s listed for.

Agree car could be a nice project at a somewhat lower price. But to properly assess the car, much better pics are needed with a least a few full engine, interior and profile shots.

If anyone needs a better picture of any part of this car, all they have to do is ask. I will be happy to try to get them the picture they are looking for. Please ask only if you are sincere!

I think a GTO with an automatic is not as common as a 4 speed!! I don’t know of anyone in the day that bought a GTO for luxury purposes!! Nice clean looking car!!

Papers from PHS showing this is a true GTO and not a clone car.

Car is presently over on Vancouver Island being restored by a daring lady i know, she is doing the work herself with guidance from her friends. She is doing an incredible job on this especially since she has never done this before.
