The second generation of the Charger (1968 to 1970) was good for Dodge. During those three years, nearly 225,000 of them were built and sold and are usually hot properties today. The question remains if that applies to the seller’s rusty field find which is likely not complete and few details are offered. Sitting outdoors for what has probably been a long time, this Mopar is in St. Louis, Missouri, and is available here on Facebook Marketplace for $5,500 (firm). Things got off to a kind of slow start when Dodge introduced the Charger in the middle of the 1966 model year. Between then and 1967, sales totaled about 53,000 units of which were 2/3 of them from the abbreviated first season. Initially, it was a larger fastback based on the Chrysler B-body mid-size platform. But all-new styling for 1968 for all the intermediates sent the sales trajectory on a different path, possibly helped by the Charger R/T’s appearance in the 1968 Steve McQueen action flick, Bullitt.
We can only guess as to the heritage of the seller’s Dodge. Besides telling us it has (or had) an automatic transmission and may have once been brown in color, that’s about it. It’s been left out in a field and picked clean of many parts, including the hood, trunk lid, glass, and maybe the drivetrain. Perhaps it had a 318 or 383 cubic V8 when new, or it was the rare Slant Six that didn’t find many buyers.
There is no title for the vehicle and no indication if a VIN plate or cowl tag even remains anywhere. There are quite a few parts piled in the trunk and interior, where blue seats may have been the order of the day. At $5,500, is this even a viable project or are some parts worth harvesting for another opportunity?

Amazing, if it’s old it must be worth something? Can even see the heavy rust pitting in the pics, will save the “restorer” a lot of work in getting the “textured effect” for an interesting finish.
Of course it can be referred to as a nearly complete “rustoration”, just needs one more season in the weather to complete.

At least the serial is on the trunk seal and core support.
Saw the speakers as well…..could have been a AM/FM as I had those speakers in my GTX with that radio. Look at the GTO he has also from the field of dreams – it looks like a 8 track on the console.

Firm price but not for a firm car. Pile of rust. No paper work not sure bout Vin plate or fender tag? The seller laughs all the way to the bank and the ignoramus that buys it will be crying through the beer goggles. 300 for scrap is being generous! Calling deep pockets come save it.

Promod for the race track or an outlaw shine runner candidate! Only need the shell anyway and put it on a finished chassis and everything else! I remember grabbing a lot of these kinds of cars in the 80s there were dozens around for free but times have changed a lot!

Junk yard guy has been saving this for a rainy day to pay his taxes and he knows what he has, so no tire kickers.
Appears the front bumper and steering wheel are salvageable–with heavy finishing work. Both parts together worth maybe $500. Rest is complete junk. He needs to take a 5 off that asking price.

Looks like it caught fire at one time & was left to the elements. Everything in restorable, but are you willing to put in the time & effort for a vehicle that won’t be worth it once completed? If anything, at least get it out of the elements.
I don’t what the other guys are on about. A pallet of NitroStan will take care of that body no problem.
