FJ Hoarding: Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 Collection

I swear, someone in the universe heard me going on and on about vintage Japanese 4x4s and now it seems every post is encouraging me to take the plunge onto yet another vehicle segment I know nothing about. This is a literal fleet of FJ55 Toyota Land Cruisers out in Colorado that includes a bevy of spare parts and a total of eight Land Cruisers in various stages of running condition. Find this FJ enthusiasts’ dream hoard here on eBay where the reserve remains unmet and bids are just over $500.

The seller has lost his storage arrangement and needs his parts and truck fleet gone ASAP. Within the eight truck stash, there are two runners, two that are almost runners, and four parts vehicles. The trouble with listings like this having the ability to transport and store the parts and cars. It will take serious effort and expense to properly move this collection, and that’s not even counting the room to store all of the parts, which includes whole body panels. Still, if you’re into these old FJ55s, it’s hard to deny the appeal of having a parts department in your backyard.

It seems every FJ55 in the collection has rust issues of some sort, which is not surprising. I wouldn’t be shocked if the whole collection does get snatched up by an overseas buyer, as old-school Toyotas/Nissans/Diahatus/etc. tend to have a huge following in countries where tough, reliable trucks are needed and new vehicles aren’t really an option. The rust seen here likely wouldn’t intimidate a buyer in third-world nation that just needs a vehicle that will start and go every time.

The two runners and two *almost* runners all have titles; the dedicated parts vehicles do not. I’m curious to see what the seller’s reserve is, as there is definitely a real pricetag you can put on a collection like this for a vehicle that is hard to come by for spares. The FJ55 may not have as many fans as the classic FJ40, but they can still be built into capable off-roaders if you need a vintage 4×4 with more space in the cabin. If you’ve got some acreage to waste, you could do worst than to burn some cash on this FJ55 collection.

That’s literally the only thing keeping me from bidding.

If you want ONE good FJ55, this is the collection to get. Harvest the parts you need, sell the rest to fund buying the stuff that’s not here. You know, stuff like the LS you’re gonna wanna swap in.

Some of the best looking F55’s I’ve seen! They ALL look pretty good! Usually after the rot and salvage there’s not enough left over to bother with crushing.
    Great hoard!

I would love to have one of these super 4x4s. I had a BJ40, and except for the body rust issue, the truck was phenomenal.
That is going to be a real buy for some 4×4 lover that knows the value in these beasts.

This is the type of project that requires the transplant of today’s technology into yesteryears body.
I’m sure there are plenty of todays Toyotas that have met horrible endings with fuctional driveline and fuelinjected engines.

After moving to Colorado, I can say, without reservation, this has got to be the Mecca for Landcruisers. I’ve never seen so many in one place before. In my small town in central Co. one guy has at least 10 alone, and at least a dozen more in peoples back yards, so this doesn’t surprise me. What does surprise me, is the condition of these. My 1970 FJ55 looked like this when I junked it.
