Forest Find! 1970 Dodge Charger

Aside from the Native American mine tunnels, few things in Vulcan, Michigan look more abandoned that this 1970 Dodge Charger. Air in the recently-inflated tires has elevated this one-mighty Dodge from the forest floor, but not before it surrendered much of its lower metal to Michigan tin worms. What’s left of this formerly dapper B-body seeks a new owner here on eBay, where more that 60 incremental bids have urged the value beyond a lofty $2000. Meanwhile, holy smokes; that looks like my old ’78 Buick LeSabre in the background!

Whoa, nelly! A few more years in the woods and this Charger could have been charged assault and battery on Mother Nature. Luckily someone randomly sprayed primer on some of the parts that were not disintegrating from below.

Thankfully some other cars were able to soldier on using parts stripped from this one. All joking aside, second generation Chargers rank among the most desirable muscle cars on the planet and, to my knowledge, no one makes new bodies for them. This view and the fender tag suggests the original hue of B3 “Light Blue Poly.”

Someone gave up on this 383-shaped block of metal some decades ago. Crate motor, anyone? The VIN and fender tag decoder at mymopar.com suggests this car left the factory with the 2bbl 318 cid V8 and the equally economy-minded 2.76:1 rear-axle ratio. What would you give for this half-eaten remnant of a Charger body?

I’d trade straight across for my half-eaten sandwich.

I’d trade my sister for it. Guaranteed, I’d have this Charger a whole lot longer than he’d have my sister!

I wouldn’t have the stones to put this bucket for sale,Rolls and steers nicely!! There is **nothing** behind the rear wheels. Has vin and Title- its up to 2 large and hasn’t hit reserve. Guess that’s whats worth the coin?? I’m amazed and shouldn’t be. I can hear the transported who picks it up? Does it run??

Good luck- you will need it.

    Cheers

Don’t know which would hurt worse: this car or the last kidney stone I passed. Come to think of it, I think I still have one in a box I “Might” trade for this one.
On second thought, the stone is done with, this car isn’t.

The only thing bidders are vying for is the right to haul it from the woods and unwrap the steering wheel. Nothing else left.

Oh man, scrolling through the pictures i came to 1 of the rear. Trying to figure out what i was looking at for a couple seconds, i realized it was looking into where the trunk shouldve been! I was debating takin a shot, but that pic alone changed my mind. Best of luck to the taker.

Todd – again – why list these kind of cars for those with deep pockets or by the comments – a car that should be crushed for a new washing machine ? There’s plenty of cars that could be a lot easier to bring back than this challenge – what gives ? Do you have a hatred of Mopars and like the comments or what ?

@stillrunners et. al. I remember maybe close to 20 years ago seeing a 1969 Mustang SCJ shell with (no joke) a tree growing up through the empty engine compartment sell for $2000 on eBay. You can’t buy a second-generation Charger body from Dynacorn (yet) so I do like thinking about who will buy this once-forgotten rusted-out Charger with some sort of dream in their head. You all definitely find humorous ways to ridicule the whole idea of asking money for a “car” like this, but there’s a story in there for someone.

Whoever buys this is likely interested in the VIN and clear title, not the body. I can’t fault a seller for trying to extract more than scrap value, what I don’t like, is a reserve on a car like this. That seems like a step too far.

Still sits at 2K…back glass and some grill parts may be worth it alone.

Looking at the ad, I don’t know what to make of the trunk photo…is it a planter in the trunk or are those flowers growing from the ground through where the trunk once was…???)

I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL POSTER OF THIS IMAGE, BUT LOVE IT !

I try not to be negative about the cars here, others usually do that but seriously??
I’d rather pay two grand for Todd’s 78 lesabre in the background.

Nothing but scrap metal. Worth about .50 a lb. once you drag it to the yard.

Washing machine metal? Doubt I would buy it. Scrap metal value? Not enough left in weight to haul to the yard. Probably wouldn’t pay enough to cover fuel and buy lunch, even if it was a PB and J sandwich. If the value is in the rear window and grill for $2K, then that should definitely be an indicator as to how over priced these cars have become.

Hood, steering wheel, rear glass, maybe those incorrect wheels and a good VIN with title. I see some value. But I would also factor in the time, effort and travel to extract cars like this before I rationalize buying one. Plenty of British tin around these parts to keep me happy (for free or a couple hundred a pop). More fun than hanging around brothels, as my wife often says.

The first twenty bids in eBay…by the same person with 7 transactions to their name. Starting bid $17 up to $100 when they stopped playing games. SHILL! Do sellers really think potential buyers are not watching the shill unfold before them? What a ridiculous manner of behavior for a car that has been manhandled more than a melon in the market…..

I like my Forrest Finds to actually have trees growing out of the body.

So I am waiting till one grows before bidding
