Tucked away in a garage in West Milford, New Jersey sits a 1970 Oldsmobile 442 waiting to be resurrected and loved. The car is said to run but needs love. It is listed here on eBay for a Buy It Now Price of $19,995. There is also an option to make an offer. The listing still has 24 days remaining before expiration. The VIN is 344870G137392 which indicates it is the real deal. The 1970 Oldsmobile 442 is considered an iconic American muscle car and played a significant role in the automotive landscape of its time. With a rich history and an array of performance-oriented features, it left an indelible mark on car enthusiasts.

The interior doesn’t look bad. Interestingly, the seller says the car is used for car shows but the condition and cleanliness of the car, do not indicate that. The black interior looks original and the 4 speed shifter sticks out of the console just waiting to be driven. This car was optioned with Air conditioning, rear defrost, console and rally pack. Debuting as a separate model in 1968, the Oldsmobile 442 stood for its original intent: 400 cubic inches, a four-barrel carburetor, and dual exhausts. However, the 1970 iteration elevated the 442 with a more aggressive and muscular appearance. Its notable features included a distinctive grille design, sweeping body lines, and an optional dual-scoop fiberglass hood.

The engine is not original but is said to run and drive. The 1970 442 offered a standard 455 engine rated at 365 hp and the mighty W-30 package. It featured a 455-cubic-inch V8 engine, “Ram Air” induction system, and a special camshaft, producing a formidable 370 horsepower. This setup delivered impressive performance, making the 442 a force to be reckoned with on the drag strip and the open road.  Additionally, the 442 boasted a well-tuned suspension system, enhanced handling capabilities, and power-assisted front disc brakes, contributing to its prowess in both straight-line speed and cornering ability.

The paint on this 1970 Oldsmobile 442 has seen its better days. However, with its performance and striking good looks, it epitomized the golden era of American muscle cars, capturing the hearts of enthusiasts and cementing its status as an automotive legend. Today, the 1970 Oldsmobile 442 remains a sought-after classic car, cherished by collectors and admired by automotive aficionados worldwide. Its enduring legacy and contributions to automotive history make it a true symbol of power, style, and American ingenuity.
