After a slow start in 1961, the Impala Super Sport took off in sales in 1962 – and by 1964 became a series of its own. The SS added special trim pieces and bucket seats to the Impala Sport Coupe and convertible, apparently the kind of cool that buyers were looking for. This ’64 Impala sports new blue paint and looks as nice as they come. From Greenville, South Carolina, this beauty is available here on eBay where bidders have risen the ante to $31,400, without a reserve in sight.
The Impala continued to be the best-selling U.S.-made automobile in 1964. 889,600 buyers chose to “See the USA in a Chevrolet” in Impala trim that model year. Of those, more than a third, or 155,000 cars had SS emblems everywhere on the car. And those numbers would continue to grow in 1965 before finally cooling off in 1966, thanks in part to the new and luxurious Caprice.
Impala SS editions could be ordered with any powerplant that Chevy had to offer, which included the 283 cubic inch V8 and Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission in this stellar example. No mention is made of any mechanical attention that was or is needed at 85,000 miles. We’re told it’s a fine runner that should turn some heads wherever you go. The upholstery is original and tidy, but the carpeting has just been replaced.
The VIN decodes this vehicle as a real-deal SS that was built in Doraville, Georgia with a V8 engine. So, no worries here whether this automobile is a clone. Power steering is present, but the drum brakes don’t seem to have any type of power assistance. The 283 also sports a degree of bling which may be the only parts of the motor that aren’t stock. Hopefully, this car stays as-is instead of becoming a lowrider.

In 1966 Dad had one of these while stationed at Homestead AFB in Fla. I believe it had a 327. Beautiful brown SS. I was ten & that car is what turned me into a gearhead for life.
We were there at HAFB too until 66. The 354th left for Spain that year, did you go too? 😊
No but Dad got orders to Wurtsmith in Michigan after that. However, Torrejon Spain came after that stint in 1971. I was a sophomore by then. I loved that Impala SS tho I gotta tell ya Eric!

Trim tag says this car was originally Ermine White with a blue interior. Chevrolet did not offer a two-tone blue and white interior in 64, so there’s no way the interior is “original”. Looking at the overspray under the hood, it looks like this car got a quick resale paint job, which would make me a little concerned about what the paint job is hiding. The quick rattle can black paint job of the underside should be of concern too. It’s hard to tell if it’s peeling paint or rust, but the trunk floor looks a little suspect, and I’d love to have a good look at the floors. Almost all 59-64 Chevy’s need floors.
It’s a pretty car, but any serious buyer would be wise to look it over closely, and in person.
I agree with your interior comment. While this appears to be nicely done, it’s not original. They were solid color seats with, if memory serves me correctly, buttons on the seat backs.
And you might crack your shin on those exhaust pipes too.😁
Summer “64 my dad brought one of these home to try out (almost identical spec-I think the interior was all blue). I wanted him to keep it of course but he liked the practicality of a straight 6 so we ended up with a Chevelle SS in two tone white over blue (slightly darker) with a straight 6, three on the tree and…wait for it….overdrive! It was also a great car. Chevy was hittin’

Call me nuts, 30+k, reserve not met. Nothing really original here per say. A basic car with no options to speak of. The driveline, a 283 with Autozone upgrades. Looking at the photos, one may be somewhat disappointed at pickup. This is a decent example but not 30k plus decent for a basic car that is not uncommon by any means.

GBVette is correct there was no two tone interiors offered in 64 Impala SS models. I restored a 64 Impala SS a few years ago and it was this same color blue exterior with Med, all blue interior. This one also has no factory AC and only manual drum brakes, Ouch!
At $31,500 this car is pretty much guaranteed not to be destined to be a low rider.
Despite what the seller might claim, the upholstery is not original. SS interior was all vinyl, no cloth or cloth inserts. For me, this car has been sadly modified beyond factory original to be of any serious consideration.
Makes you wonder if it’s even a true Impala SS or not, with so many things wrong, or just the most basic of options. Manual only, drum brakes, non factory AC and only a 283, not the 327 that was also offered. That and the wrong, two tone interior.
More memories, my 1st gf out of HS had a car like this, gold, not an SS, but 2 door Impala. She got it from her dad, and was just a peanut of a gal, and had to sit on pillows. She ended up trading it for a Datsun 1200 fastback. Talk about one extreme to the other. Looks big and for good reason, I think the ’64 was the biggest Chevy made.(?)
’71-’76 Chevrolet along with the rest of the GM full size were the biggest cars.
I know I keep repeating myself, but when someone has a decent looking car, then start talking stuff that isn’t true, what else is wrong.
