There was probably no one more excited than I when the Dodge Challenger made its return in 2008, and witnessing the car continue to evolve beyond what was already a fine comeback gave me hope that the auto industry was back on the right path. Sadly, production ended at the end of 2023, but not before Mopar fans got the Hellcat. Just when enthusiasts thought things couldn’t get much better, along came the Redeye and the Jailbreak package, and to add a custom droptop to the latter makes for a Challenger that’s way beyond satisfying in all areas. This one’s in West Palm Beach, Florida, and can be seen here on eBay, where the current bid of $32,100 is likely many thousands below the reserve.

Dodge hasn’t offered a factory-built Challenger convertible since the 1971 model, but a third-party called Drop Top Customs has been converting a few of the recent examples into ragtops, with the workmanship appearing to be of very high quality. While this transformation would look appealing on just about any Challenger, it doesn’t hurt when the body is painted Sublime green, one of the vintage High Impact colors that Dodge resurrected. The canvas seems to cover the top nicely in the up position, and also has a snug fit when retracted.

While the base 2023 Challenger SRT Hellcat only offers a mere 717 horsepower, stepping up to the Redeye increases that number to 797, followed by the Widebody Jailbreak, which spews 807. With these credentials and the custom convertible top addition, this one’s destined to be one of those Mopars that will be fondly remembered as offering the best of everything. My hope is that the next owner will treat this one with respect, but it just wouldn’t seem right to squirrel this Challenger away without some enjoyable driving, so hopefully, the mileage will slowly increase over time while giving great care to this future mighty Mopar collectible.

The interior features Black Laguna leather buckets up front, and this one’s officially a two-seater, as it came with the rear seat delete option. The sepia colored belts work nicely with the otherwise black components, and the inside looks comfortable to get behind the wheel of for long-distance travel at a high rate of speed. This one couldn’t be much more gratifying, and it’ll be fun to watch how high the price climbs before the gavel drops here. Any thoughts to share about this 2023 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody Jailbreak convertible?

Rear seat 💺 delete pkg. Wow as if it isn’t fast enough. Unbelievable power numbers on these cars.
The useless rear seat should not have even been available on any modern Camaro & or Stang.
& all that power should IMO not be backed up with 6 CV joints on any of those 3 cars! They are only as strong as their weakest link.
Looks like one of Scotty Gilbertson’s photoshop creations!
Yes please! Saw one at a TV auction earlier this year. These look great as a drop top. I’d guess it will take $150K for it to arrive at your garage. Probably worth every penny too.
Oh My!!! And only 849 miles.
I’m not sure how many people have ridden in a convertible car at speed but things start flapping pretty good at a 100 mph so you might want to give mom a tranquilizer before you put the hammer down!
Obviously YOU have never ridden in one of these conversions as NONE of the flapping you describe occurs with this car!
I had my ‘13 MX-5 up to 111 mph before I backed off due to deer concerns and it was very smooth. I was pleasantly surprised

Obviously YOU have never driven one of these Challenger convertible conversions as you would have a completely different opinion!
Wow, someone dropped a lot of coin to bring you the car you see here. A bit of overkill if you’re asking me but isn’t that what it’s all about? Great colors and credentials and looks good even with the top. After all it’s usually raining on my day off.
So, after Stellantis made a big deal out of the “last” of the hemi cars, and charged exorbitant prices for them. They have now decided to bring them back next year? That has to be cutting into the resale of these cars.
Just an FYI….Dodge opened up the order book for the Challenger to include a convertible option the last 9 months or so of production. This is one of those. Yes, they got sent to Drop Top Customs for the conversion but that was done by Dodge on a production order. I’m guessing there were very very few done that way.
My son looked into the program, for an allocation slot and even spoke w the owner DTC about using the chopped top to make a removable hardtop (the answer was, “huh, hadn’t ever thought of that, interesting, yea that be something we could do”).
Total cost was gonna be $135k including dealer payoff to get the allocation and w all his options, plus another 10% sales tax. Nit stopped making sense although he coulda pulled it off.
This is the first Ive seen of an official Dodge ordered convert Redeye ect so we’ll see if him walking was a good thing…

Great example of why I have always said in my 40+ years of attending BJ Scottsdale.
IF you are willing to park your a$$ near the block there are always GREAT DEALS to be had at BJ.
Ya just gotta go there will no specific vehicle in mind to purchase. When you see a BARGAIN that you are even remotely interested in BID ON IT!
That’s how you get a great deal at BJ Scottsdale!
I think they should have made the name a little longer. The title must come on an 11 x 17 page.
Went to $122,975 reserve not met. 37 bids.
Why is this car on this site?
Furthest thing from a Barnfind imaginable.
When planning to do a convertible conversion of the Ferrari 400i, Richard Straman famously cut the top off of one and drove it like that for ‘too long’ just to see where the unit body would start cracking and flexing. That’s where he designed reinforcements for his production cars. Not sure how much engineering went into these…but it’s a bit scary that I don’t see a roll bar.
Just saying…
Richard Straman did NOT have CAD design, computer modeling or CNC parts machine capability to design, produce the parts needed complete his builds. “Drop Top Challenger”, the maker of these fine convertible conversions is able to use all these modern advances along with OEM input. You no longer have to “Home Boy” engineering to build a convertible conversion.
Richards methods by today’s standards were “Home Boy Engineering” at best however given the time when he did these builds was 50 years ago that was the best idea out there!
