Geneva Edition: 1994 GMC Yukon

The two-door GMC Yukon is a well-liked modern-day classic, seemingly capturing the hearts and minds of enthusiasts that can’t get enough of a short wheelbase truck in classic squarebody fashion. This particular Yukon is made rarer still by featuring an unusual cosmetic package that earned it the moniker of being called the “Geneva” edition, which seemingly amounted to some upgraded wood trim inside and perhaps some unique leather seat upholstery. You also got a generous center console with an icebox, according to the listing, and you can find the GMC listed here on eBay with bids to $7,599 and no reserve.

The Yukon isn’t super low-mileage, but it’s not terrible, either, with just over 125,000 miles on the clock. The dark teal paint presents well and is a sharp look for a truck like this. The Geneva trim is so odd to me, with the badge seemingly an afterthought and the actual “upgrades” quite limited. I’d pay less attention to that and concentrate on the rust-free condition and impressive cosmetics, especially for a vehicle that isn’t a time capsule. The standard alloy wheels look to be in good shape, and thus Yukon is equipped with an optional towing package. Prior to the seller taking possession, this was a one-owner GMC.

The interior definitely stands in stark contrast to a standard Yukon interior; of this, there is no doubt. The wood trim reminds me of the kind you’d find in a conversion van of the same era, and I’m guessing this Geneva retrofit was performed by a company that typically would turn your GM-built party bus into a limousine-caliber mobile palace. The carpets look quite clean and the Geneva-specific upholstery and door panels present well. The interior is a pleasant surprise, as upgraded cabins like these can begin to look quite tired on higher-mileage trucks like these; the wood trim is definitely showing its age but still looks quite presentable.

The leather looks a bit tired in places, but it’s likely pretty typical for this mileage; it looks like the lower cushion has been replaced at some point, as the backrest is way more worn than the lower section. I would probably get the upper portion redone to match, as the seat would look better and the interior overall would present much better. So, what do you think about this Geneva edition? Is the wood trim upgrade special enough to drive a cost premium? I don’t think so, and the clean cosmetics is what should drive the value here, as clean two-door Yukons don’t pop up for sale every day.

These are nice and are going to get harder and harder to find in decent shape. If this car wasn’t clear across the country from me, I’d take a swing at it.

Personally, the wood looks like a dealer did an ‘upsale’ job. As Jeff says it looks like a conversion job of the era and we used to have a 1993 G20 conversion van with wood trim of this shade and style. However, the vehicle itself should serve someone well. And parts will always be readily available.

Looks like there could be some front end damage at one time judging by the the gaps between hood and grill. A closer inspection may be in order.

Could just be a missing hood bumpstop

It’s had two “minor” accidents reported, one in ‘07 (front left impact) and another in ‘12 (front impact with a parked vehicle). It could still be a missing bump stock though, perhaps forgot to replace after repair.

The Geneva edition was done by an upfit company in Lake Geneva Illinois. Their speciality was conversion vans. They did a few Yukon and Tahoes but it wasn’t their best work. They went out of business in the early 2000’s.

Interesting car, does look like a van conversion company did the wood. If it were just two-wheel drive ,it would be worth twice as much.

They were like Choo Choo Customs and StarCraft. They should have used a different color stain on the wood, too gaudy for me.

I never understood why GM dropped the K5 Blazer and GMC Yukon models.
