I believe that we may have seen Porsche tractors owned by this seller in the past here, but I could be wrong. Porsche’s Junior series was the smallest tractor with the least horsepower, sort of the Subaru 360 of Porsche tractors. No, scratch that, they’re nothing like that at all.
The Porsche tractor line started with the Junior, then came the Standard, the Super was next, and the big one was the Master. Prices vary and like with cars, of course, condition plays a big role as to how much one can sell for. Auction fever can also play a big role as we’ve seen with other vehicles. Get a few adult beverages in bidders and prices can go through the roof. This Junior was “imported by the selling party in 2018”, according to the eBay description. I’m not quite sure what that means? Is the eBay seller not the owner?
This is a nice “starter” Porsche tractor, did I just say that? If I had a spot to use a tractor like this I would love to have one, but it wouldn’t have to be a Porsche. It would look good in the Porsche wing of the garage, though (yeah, right). I mentioned the red color earlier and looking at the photos, this one appears to have been repainted at some point. It wasn’t a Concours paint job but, hey, it’s a working tractor.
The Junior had an 822 cc single-cylinder diesel engine with around 14 hp. The top model, the Master, had a 50-hp engine so there is quite a difference between the four models as far as power goes. The seller doesn’t give us any info on how this one operates but they say that it’s been restored to an impressive condition so I’m assuming that it runs as good as it looks. Have any of you seen a Porsche tractor in person? What make of tractor would you rather have than this one?
Wow! Finally, an old Porsche for under 20K!
Though not extremely common it’s not at all unusual to see Porsche tractors at vintage farm equipment rallies in Europe, I even remember seing them occasionally at farms as well.
Of the plethora of tractors of this size built from post-war to the 60s it’s hard to beat the simplicity and versatility of the lil’ grey Fergie. My absolute favorite would be an MF 135 with Perkins 3cyl diesel in typical UK fashion with square fenders and no cab
As soon as I saw “Grün Acres” I knew it had to be Scotty. Thanks for bringing this interesting machine to our humble pages! Will you be adding this fine landwirtschaftlicher mähdrescher to your collection?
My dad was a John Deer dealer in the early 60’s (somewhere I still have the gold tractor plaque he won in 1962), and I believe the same vintage Deere would plow this foreigner into the sandy loam. And that would do for my dream tractor, but I’d want one of those overhead cotton-pickers on it, so I could trouble my old school buddies to let me drive in reverse, up and down a few rows at harvest time. I’ve actually dragged a cotton sack, but those pickers became available about the same time, thank God. Good to see Dr. Porsche was trying to make a living any way he could.
Dont you mean Grün Hectares?
Loved the joke!
“Good Bye City Life”
Ach du lieber, das is not ein Porsche. Ok, so it is, big deal. Nobody going for the 5 figure price tag either. Oh mercy, gotta love it.( wiping tear from eye) I’ve watched classic farm tractor auctions on the “Farmers Channel” and beautifully restored vintage tractors seem to hover around the $5 grand range, and usually very few bidders. It’s a market that will never see vintage car prices, like this seller is hoping, because, for the most part, nobody can drive one today. You want to spend that kind of money for the name, be my guest, but I’ve found air cooled tractors can’t hold a candle to the liquid cooled ones, and I’ll take a D series Allis over this anyday.
I’m as old as dirt and I NEVER would have guessed Porsche made a tractor?
Lamborghini was also a company building tractors long before their sports cars went into production
Finally a Porsche I can get interested in!
My dad had a (1961) catalog of tractors that were tested at the Nebraska test site. I remember looking through it saw some really weird stuff, including the Porsche models. I knew what they looked like but I never saw one in the flesh…
Used tractors go for $1500-$3000 here in New York.
“…What make of tractor would you rather have than this one?…”
unfortunately a same sz (20 hp) kuobota – 4 WD, easy 3 pt hitch converts to back hoe, frnt end loader, better transmish, drive-over mower, etc, etc
A lot like the Porsche cars-overpriced!!!
Nice tractor. I’ll keep my Satoh, though :-) It has twice the cylinder count…
This seller was a frequent on BAT with a regular cadre of shill bidders. Wonder if that’s why he’s on eBay where it’s easier to get away with such shenanigans.
One of my favorite jokes to ask gear heads is the question;
“In what year did Porsche GMBH first offer a vehicle with an air cooled Porsche Diesel Engine?”
99% of the time the answer provided was: Porsche never made a Diesel engine!
Of course the correct answer is 1961.
Perfect bait for car snobs of the european variety!
And yes, almost all Porsche Tractors were painted red. Some municipalities or government agencies had special colors, but the typical Porsche tractor is red.
Years ago I bought what remained of a Porsche tractor dealership here in Maryland. No tractors or parts were left over, but I found a never used & near mint, wooden child’s Porsche tractor, about 10″ long, bright red of course, along with the correct hay wagon. Still have it somewhere in my massive old toy collection, and would be willing to sell it to a Porsche tractor owner, for a reasonable price.
