You just never know where you will find a stash of classic cars! This ’61 Triumph TR3A, found here on eBay is parked in Redmond, Washington. It was last registered in 1983 and was found in an airplane hanger where she sat for over a decade! The body panels are only loosely bolted on and they are not aligned.
The panels themselves appear to be in pretty good shape. The engine runs but smokes. This engine was supposedly rebuilt years ago with only 50 miles on it since the rebuild. This project sat for years without the engine being started, so it likely will need work.
The owner says the car runs, the gearbox works, and the clutch and brakes are in order. There are a couple of water leaks that need to be addressed. There are many other large images with the eBay ad, including one of the engine bay you may wish to review. The temperature gauge does not work, but all the other gauges are said to be functioning as they should. The owner says there is good oil pressure, the horn works and wipers are also in working order.
There is rust in front of the rear wheels and on the battery box, images of these areas are provided in the ad.
The hood (top), side curtains and the other bits are included with the sale! This is a project and for the right price could end up being a nice driver.
Motor-on,
Robert
Bid is currently at $5,800 but the reserve hasn’t been met. I suspect that bidding will continue to climb. It seems like this one could be put back on the road pretty quickly. Which is what I would do. Take care of the safety items. Do all the overdue maintenance work. Fix the dents and rust spots. Find out why the engine is smoking. Most of that could be done over Winter. In the Spring………go for a top down drive!
Unfortunately I’m in Pennsylvania. Too far for me.
Color, ah odd.. but i so want a solid TR3 to do next. Too bad it is over there. Wish it were closer.
There is no airport in Redmond, WA. The nearest one is 20 miles away. Given that the car has Oregon plates, it could be Redmond, OR. There IS an airport there.
