Huge Collection Of Classsic Cadillacs!

There is an amazing collection of vintage Cadillacs for sale in Riverside, California. They range in years from 1940 to 1966 with most being from the 1950’s. Some of the cars can be found here on Craigslist, and it looks like some are listed on eBay also. You can find more details on many of the cars here on fotki.com. Thanks to Adam C. for the tip on this stellar collection.

This may be one of the coolest looking cars of the group. I can’t tell if it is wet or if it has an amazing polished clear coat on it? These old Cadillacs are so heavy, it feels like they are floating down the highway. The list of cars includes 1940 and ’41 Fleetwoods, 1951 through 1966 Coupes and 1959, ’60 and ’61 Eldorados. There’s also a 1956 Cadillac Ambulance along with various Chevrolet trucks, even a vintage Suburban.

Here is what appears to be the cleanest car in the collection. It is a 1956 and was said to have been pulled out of a California barn. The details on this particular car can be found here. The asking price is $11,500 and if the car is as good as described, that sounds pretty reasonable.

Here’s another clean looking car! This 1963 Coupe de Ville that was also said to have been pulled from a large barn. Even though the engine doesn’t turn over, the asking price is $9,500! You can read more details (and see more photos) here on fotki.com. This looks like a great collection with some promising projects. What do you think?

Obviously wet ground around some of these, for the better really as clear coat over dingy paint and rust looks like merde…

This is amazing. Thanks to Cliff, for this lot being in CA instead of the rust belt.

My Dad would have had a terrific time going through this place, but because he loved ’50s Caddys he would have had a big dilemma which ones, or ones, to take.

He always had a formerly broken ’50s Cad around that he bought cheap and fixed himself, then drove for a while before moving on to the next one. Being a master mechanic helped. I learned at his side how to fix Caddys before I got into Brit sportscars, which he then helped me to fix because he had decades of experience and that transferred to the furrin’ stuff.

These ’50s / early ’60s Caddys sure bring back memories. I would visit this place just for the nostalgia even if I weren’t in the market…..

Put me down for the ’68 three door and the ’63 mint turquoise coupe. Also, is the ’59 Eldorado really worth 275K? Wow that’s a lot of beans but, it’s a nice car.

Yes these babies can go over 300K( Biarritz) or close to it and the ’60 Eldorado Biarritz is not too far behind.

I think the Broadmoor Skyview Station Wagons would be the cars to have. Nothing like them in the world.

Also it is nice to see a seller present the cars in decent condition.

I am talking about the new tires on the 1956 ambulance. I am glad he didn’t show these cars with flat tires like most do.

The `60 Eldorado Seville HT would be my choice. Sure its’ rough, but once completed, you’ll have probably one THE most gorgeous cars around! The cvts. always bring high dollar, but there seems to be more of those than the hardtop Sevilles. This car would be stunning in it’s original pale turquoise metallic with a matching vinyl top & leather interior! WELL worth the $100+ it would take to restore.

I lived within a few miles of this collection for 9 years, in the 1950’s and early 1960’s.

My father was friends with a local native American couple. They were very proud of having ‘put one over on the snobs’.

They told my father the story of having bought a brand new Cadillac in 1956 for a steal.

He and his wife dressed up very badly, in dirty old clothes. Then they went down to the dealership, and asked to test drive the one they wanted. Nobody wanted to take them, but they finally got a salesperson to let them test drive it.

Once they came back, they asked how much it was. The snickering was everywhere in the dealership. When they were told the price, my father’s friend looked downcast, walked a little bit away and spoke in low tones with his wife for a bit.

Eager to get them out of his showroom, the sales manager came out and said that, if they would take it now, he would let them have it for (a ridiculously low) price – good for today only.

Everyone was shocked, when they said they’d take it!

Horrified; the manager hastily added that that would be the CASH price. My father’s friend nodded to his wife, and she opened her purse. She reached inside and brought out a wad of money. He said; “It’s the only way I ever do business”.

There was a continuing attempt by management to talk them out of the deal; but in the end, a quote is a quote. He and his wife drove off that day, with a car that might easily be one of those offered in this collection!

    Who knows?

Caddy lovers and you flippers: Today, Sept 6 on 15th avenue there was a 4 dr 62 Caddy with a hand painted sticker on it “For Sale $1500.00, Washington State current plates. Swung into credit union withdrew $3000 Cash, damn long line and clerks bsing.
Came out and did not drive back, car had been in view from credit union when I entered, but was gone when I came out.
City is small and I drove for 2 hours trying to spot it , to no avail. Store owner did not know guy who drove it, he’ll I even asked if he bought something on credit so he could tell me a name.
Well I know the store clerk was perfectly in the good for saying no even if such a card had been used.
Tomorrow that cash will be stashed in my rig, just in case.
Auto was all black and weathered but appeared darn decent from a slow driveby view on a very busy street.
I damn near pulled a full bootleg u- turn to get to money spot, no parking by that rig.
Still am dumbfounded at what I saw.
    Won’t sleep tonight.
