With over 500 golf courses that are covered with snow for several months out of every year, golf is a very big thing even in Minnesota. This 1997 Lincoln Town Car Jack Nicklaus Signature Series Edition is located in Blaine, Minnesota, and is posted here on craigslist. The seller is asking $5,500. Here is the original listing, and thanks to Tony P. for the tip!
This one is a head-scratcher. The official Jack Nicklaus Signature Series edition Town Car should have a stark white top, but this one has a tan top. It also doesn’t have green piping on the leather seats, another “signature” feature of this edition. It does have the Jack Nicklaus logo and signature on the dash, an official feature of the Jack Nicklaus Signature Series edition. Some sources list front grille spokes and other gold-tone accents. Jack Nicklaus bear logos should be found on the front fenders, and this car has those, so I’m betting it’s an official edition.
The car itself appears to be a gem. It may have a nick here or there, but overall it looks fantatsic. After 28 years and only 154,000 miles, that’s only 5,464 miles a year on average. I bet it was never driven in the winter, but we don’t know that for sure. There are no underside photos, but there doesn’t appear to be any rust shown in the photos. The trunk is a luxurious space for several sets of golf clubs.
You can just make out the small Jack Nicklaus logo and signature below the dash vent on the right side; that’s all there is to identify this as that special edition, other than the two front logos on the fenders. As mentioned, the tan leather seats don’t show the green piping, and there is no green carpet or green floor mats. Maybe by 1997, Lincoln offered more options for buyers of this special edition?
The back seat looks perfect, but I wish we had an engine photo. The seller shows nine photos of the driver’s side, and only one of the passenger side, and no engine photo. I don’t get it, but it’s 2025 and nothing makes sense anymore. This one is said to be fitted with a 4.6-liter SOHC V8, which had 190 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. Backed by a smooth-shifting automatic sending power to the rear wheels, this is the last year of the second-generation Town Car. Any thoughts on this one? Is it a real Jack Nicklaus Signature Series edition? I’m guessing it is.

Wow, love these cars. This is so clean for 153K miles
Should have been built with one of my favorite features, a golf bag door…total class!
The Golden Bear 🐻 🏆
Nice luxurious Lincoln tribute to the best of All-Time. ⛳️ 🏌️♂️
My dad had one, white with tan leather, beautiful car.
I prefer the 1980-’89 Lincoln cars — but at least, unlike the later ones, this model still LOOKS like a Lincoln. Well cared-for, and I expect that it is nice throughout — and, affordable. But I like the earlier generation (not the1970s bloat-mobiles, however).
tacky is the first word that comes to mind. very ‘boca’ is the second thing.
I can imagine pulling up to the golf course in this. I liked this generation Lincoln Townie. Probably as another 150000 miles left.
Very nice. Looks great (but needs whitewalls). It could pass for 53k miles not 153k. It is the type of car for which I’d like to know the history. I’d guess one, no more than two, owners. And what was it used for (like Scotty speculates, for summer-only trips around town). And, what was done to keep it looking so good. Plus, it’s not expensive.
This car is about ten miles from me, Bob. Say the word and I’ll check it out and have it on a trailer headed for your house in two hours! (ha) I agree about white walls, and it sure is cheap given the incredible luxury and how nice it looks.
Perhaps this Beauty would be a hit at Mar-A-Lago! Putting on the green ⛳ 🏌️♀️ a real swinger. Sure to drive you wild! Now don’t get Td off! Just havin some fun. NOT a comment on Anyone, just the car! Actually these are few and far between, making this a Bon Marche.
doesn’t seem to be many of these left. you see the earlier square ones and the later round style but not these. always wondered why
I didn’t see if it had AC or not. Can you tell if it does by the ash controls? Would be a nice car for here in Florida with the white roof but no AC is a bummer.
@ Norman…I’m sure Air Conditioning was standard on ALL Lincolns as well as other luxury cars. Whether it’s working (likely) is another question. Sent from The GREAT AMERICAN LAND YACHT PRESERVATION SOCIETY! 👍
Thanks for that Rick. I would think the same thing but ya never know. Nice car and wish it was closer to me in Fla. Transportation would be at least another $1500 or so I imagine. Still not a bad price.
I have an 09 Town Car. But I want a 97, last year of this body. Some folks say after 97 Lincoln quality suffered. I like them all.
My daily driver is a 1992 Jack Nicklaus edition. I bought it 8 years ago with 45k miles on it. The car was like it rolled off the showroom floor. It now has 190k on it. Still runs great but did rebuild the trans at 120k miles. The outside paint is still great. The inside leather not so good after all of use on the driver seat. I suspect the same for this car. These signature series cars are all smooth rides. The J N edition was an option trim package. It was painted in Masters color Green, with a full white roof and white leather trimmed in green piping. Actually, some of these did come with a set a golf clubs. I plan to drive it for another 100k. Good deal and good luck to the next owner of this 97 J N car.
@Norman…No problem. And my 2007 Signature Limited even has a separate AC-heater vent mounted on the back of center arm rest. @George…I’ve had 78, 89, and current 2007 Signature Limited. The only quality descent was IMO the quality of carpet material. All were LINCOLN, what a Luxury CAR should be and ONCE was. Still Thinkin Lincoln! 👍
My interest in Lincolns started in 1962 when a got my fist one, a 57 premier convertible with a continental kit on the back. What a boat. After that was 58 Convert, a couple of 75’s, a 76 Mark, an 86 Lincoln four door, a 60 four door Landau which got taken in a bankruptcy and the last one was an 81 four door Mark 6. Every one was a great car but some needed a lot of work (money) which I didn’t have .That slowed me down a lot. So now I’m looking for another Lincoln that runs and drives even if it doesn’t look so good. I’m too old to be doing a lot of mechanical stuff anymore.
Great candidate for a 6-speed swap making it the ultimate luxury car, IMO.
My dad had this exact car rose with a burgundy wine top and interior. Gorgeous car. When he passed his wife didn’t offer to sell it to me or my brother to buy no she sold to a friend of hers for 3k and he trashed it in 6mos it only had 43k miles on it. But sometimes that happens with step parents when you’re not their children. Man l loved that car but I got over it. Today I’m the only one of my family still cares for her.
