LS Power! 1972 Chevrolet Blazer

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

A frame-off chassis restoration and modern LS V8 engine render this classic SUV better than ever and ready for decades of service. The 1972 Chevrolet Blazer in Litchfield Park, Arizona comes in one paint job away from possible perfection, and if you like the glossed-over patina look, this may be your lucky day. The sturdy-looking 4×4 comes to market here on eBay where $68,500 makes it yours with one click on Buy It Now. If that seems high, try your luck and click Make Offer.

Credit the builder for properly repainting the engine compartment so buyers who want a real paint job can make the rest of the truck match the shiny view here. A nondescript 5.3L (325 cid) LS series V8 should make more power and deliver greater fuel economy than any original motor offered in this rig. For the asking price, I’d expect a zero-mile crate motor with a beefy dyno sheet or a well-sorted Chinese turbo in there.

Plaid Highlander-style cloth inserts in the all-new upholstery nicely compliment the bold blue paint. Under-dash air conditioning keeps things cool, though the listing skips over any details such as whether it works.

A modest body lift and other modifications yield a period-correct Day Two look with the stock-style wheels. I’d spring for a paint job, but otherwise this resto-mod hits the mark. My uncle had a Blazer like this in bright orange and white. Once he abruptly turned 90 degrees on a back road and attempted to scale a steep bank where nobody had ever driven to demonstrate the vehicle’s capabilities. We didn’t make it, but nobody died, so it makes a fun story to tell.

If there’s a nit to pick, I’d want an overdrive with my manual transmission if you’re asking over $30,000. Still, at least it’s not an automatic. With a claimed 2000 miles and change since this truck’s refurbishing, it should go the distance with fewer frustrations and costly sidelines than nearly any new vehicle. How does this re-powered rig compare to today’s SUVs?

Todd….. Consider me on “Team Paint”!!! This would just pop with a fresh paint job. I appreciate the work they did on it, and like they kept the stick. I do agree with Todd though and think a 5 speed overdrive would go a long way here. The interior looks fantastic. I do appreciate they painted inder the hood etc, so if you want nice paint, it will be that much easier. Nice Blazer here.

Yep, more mems. Some may remember the trip my ex-BIL and I made to Nashville from Wis. in the mid 80s to get a rust free classic. This was Dicks Blazer we took, sans the LS, of course. I’ll spare you the horrific details of the trip, but the Blazer performed flawlessly. The home made trailer, not so much. Back in ’69 GM kicked everybody with the K5. Perhaps a knee jerk reaction to the Jeep SJ, it took Ford almost 9 years to jump on the full size bandwagon, still milking their Bronco ll. While the Jeep was for a select crowd, the K5 introduced a whole generation to off roading, and never looked back. It was the 1st time many of us ever saw tires that big on the street vehicle. They were just the best of the best.

Our ’72 had the 350 with 4 speed and it pulled everything we hooked up to it. Fun vehicles.

I just check out on ebay a 72 Gray/Black CST Blazer looks brand new at $45,000.00 starting 350-4 Automatic. Ok. This one was done over on the frame drop in LS 5.3 4speed. Patina paint job for $68,000.00. Yeah if this was repainted the factory colors ok I can see it for the price. I would go after the gray for sure. Good luck to the seller. 🐻🇺🇸

Unfortunately the grey one for 45k is an auction and the reserve is not met. Nice truck! It’ll probably end closer to 70k is my guess

    “…the glossed-over patina look…”
patina is bad enuff, ‘fake’ is even worse.

    “…no LS ina rest0mod)…”
I’m w/hairy, but might go an auto 4 speed (OD) or 5 speed (OD) manny depending on use.

Altho a ford-guy big fan of these when coming out. Fav view? 3/4 rear view from above w/top off. It looks like a milea rug from there.
