This beautiful, 1978 Lincoln Continental has so much more to it than meets the eye. It is listed for sale for $10,000 but at the end of the listing, the seller indicates they will accept an offer. Located near Kansas City, Kansas, specifically Harrisonville, the car does have a clean title. The seller states that there are just 3,000 miles on the car, but there’s a bit more to that story. The reason for the low mileage is because this car has a newer 532 cubic-inch big-block Ford. There is a long list about the sleeper beneath the hood, including an Eagle crank, a Crane camshaft, Race Tech pistons, Edelbrock Performer heads, Blue Thunder intake, dual four-barrel Holley 4160 on progressive linkage, MSD ignition, and custom headers with a two and a half-inch dual exhaust. All of that engine is connected to a C6 heavy-duty automatic transmission which was built by Lees Summit Transmission. An ATI Streetmaster torque converter is installed. It doesn’t sound like describing a Lincoln Continental, does it?
Inside is an incredibly clean, very stock interior which is vastly different than what is under the hood. There is no mention if this car has been restored, but it has obviously has been worked on. It very well could be a survivor that is complimented with a hefty sleeper engine implant. The gold paint is stunning and again, if it hasn’t been repainted, this thing is in amazing condition. You will have to take some time to talk to the seller about all the details not related to the engine.
While this car might weigh just south of 5,000 pounds, the engine installed should get it all moving very quickly. If your goal is to take it drag racing, hopefully, it gets everything moving faster than your opponent expects and you are able to take home a win. Although, you might have to pick your opponent carefully in order to make sure you have a strong chance at victory.
The only thing missing is curb finders .

Talk about something different! This Lincoln is probably the fastest one on the planet. It’s a beautiful car in and out packing quite the surprise under the hood. Considering the condition and the performance upgrades, the price seems like a good deal.

When I think of a Hot Rod Lincoln, this is not the model I think of.
I wouldn’t go anywhere near this car. It seems a waste of a good engine, when the original engine was just fine for what this car was made for.

My dad had a 76 or 77 Town Car. It was the best I ever saw! Beautiful black outside with a jade green velvet interior. It had the oval opera windows. It was some sort of special edition. Had a larger luxurious front grill and a power moonroof. Don’t know what exact year or model it was called. Even had the compartments on the back of the seats for a wet bar! Now that was a sweet ride! Wish I could find it again. Always wondered if it’s still on the road or not here in upstate NY.
This land yacht is still for sale. Too bad gas is so expensive. As nice as it is, I do have my criticisms. (Yuch) No underside pics, no rear seat pics, no odometer/dash pic. A better price could be had with the original, or same size, replacement engine…460. That trailer hitch tells me it did a lot of towing. That would be hard o n the transmission. As nice as it looks, I am skeptical. Pass. Potential buyer beware.
