This 1966 Ford Bronco looks like it’s straight out of the 1979 movie Mad Max. Featuring a homemade grill guard/bumper/winch mount combination, it looks like this Bronco is ready for just about any adventure. Found here on eBay, it has a requested opening bid of $1,200. Located in El Dorado, Arkansas, I bet it has more off-road miles than on-road ones.
The engine is a straight-six with a 3-speed column shift transmission. The seller says that the engine turns over but “I feel sure it will run but I have not gone any further with it.” Not exactly sure what that means? Clearly, it doesn’t run and the seller doesn’t really know what it will take to get it running. These six-cylinder engines are really torquey but not geared toward speedy performance.
There are no seats, but the interior looks solid. You can see what appears to be a bullet hole in the top edge of the tailgate. This truck has probably been on more than a few hunting trips in its life. That may be the best outcome for this truck. I don’t think someone will do a factory restore on this one. I could see it cruising around a large ranch with some feral hog hunters in the back. What do you think the fate for this one will be?

No Green Acres fans, hey? Too bad, when TV shows were fun. Guess it dates me. Hank Kimball was the bumbling county agent and drove a 1966 Bronco roadster ( which this is not) It was the 1st time anybody had seen the new Ford Bronco ( Ford was the sponsor at the time) I don’t think that’s a bullet hole, more like the latch failed, and someone drilled a hole to open the gate. This has got to be one of the worst looking, yet probably still functional 1st gen Bronco’s I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen better ones in the Badger.

The Bronco if I remember right was light green.
It was a great show. Fun.

Your sense of humor cracks me up. Any body that hunts Feral hogs drives a new 4 X 4 those suckers are mean.
My first Bronco was a 68 6 cylinder three on the tree and it looked a lot like this one. I drove it everywhere on and off the road. If I were to buy this I would sandblast the body and if it still was together then rattle can it satin black, clean up the wheel and paint them white, go over the engine and trans along with brakes. Ditch the mesh screen on the winch bumper, Rhinoline the interior and put some decent seats in it and drive the wheels off it.
I envy your enthusiam! If I had it, I would wake up the next morning thinking “what the fudge” how am I going to get this “piece of rusty Americana” in the dumpster.
I would drive this as-is in a heartbeat.
These mods were clearly done back when these were worth nothing.
Looks more like 1981’s The Road Warrior (aka Mad Max ll). In Mad Max, the bad guys ride motorbikes, and Max ‘n family tooled around in a little camperized Ute. Then there’s the cop cars…aaaaaaah, that Falcon.

I took 3 or 4 of these to make 1 back in the 80s. Still runnin it.
So contrary to what Mr. Chebby sez – they R worth more’n when they were built/1st sold and have increased since leaving the show room. The 90s & increase in the internet really saw an explosion for them.
/AND/
as some1 said above – this is not a ’66. Don’t believe it ever had the ‘door inserts’ but many fittings show a rag top at 1 time. I have doors for it if any1s interested.
