This 1970 International Harvester Scout 800A is located in central Texas in the town of Harker Heights. It is listed here on Facebook Marketplace for $12,500. The listing has been up for about a week. There is not much of a description in the ad but it appears to be a running example that needs paint, grill and a front bumper. The rear bed is fitted with an aftermarket roll bar and a rear bench seat for the kids. This Scout 800A is riding on chrome wheels and the tires look like they are fairly new.

International Harvester Scout 80s (1960–1965) featured a 152 cu in inline-four engine with 93 horsepower as standard. This engine was also offered in the Scout 800 but could be ordered with a turbocharger. The Scout 800 could also be ordered with a 304 cu in V8, while other available engines in 1970 included a 196 cu in inline-four and the 232 cu in six-cylinder. Some literature states that a 345 cu in V8 and a 392 cu in V8 was also options, although I have not been able to verify this. In the mid-1970s, Scout II models (1976–1979) continued to receive upgrades like nicer interiors and other special versions. The interior of this Scout 800A looks factory and is fairly worn and rough. The engine is backed by a manual transmission.

The Scout 800 is considered rare for reasons beyond its status as being 55 years old. The original Scout, known as the Scout 80, was manufactured by International Harvester from 1960 to 1965. The second generation, called the Scout 800, was produced in three sub-models: 800, 800A, and 800B. International Harvester built the Scout 800 from 1966 to 1971; specifically, the Scout 800 was made from 1966 to 1967. The Scout 800A was available from 1968 to 1970, while the Scout 800B had a brief production period from August 1970 to March 1971. The subsequent model, the Scout II, succeeded the Scout 800B and was produced from 1971 to 1980.

The Scout 800A received some upgrades compared to prior years including more creature comforts and a different grill. This example looks to have some modifications and you can pick the grill you want. I think it looks pretty good as is.

Clearly a v8, cool but zero information in the ad. Good luck to buyer and seller.
They have to trim that bush in front of house, looks horrible!
