Mopar Collection Grown Out of Control

moparcollection

We’ve all been there: too much stuff, too many cars, too little time. I recently purged our basement of miscellaneous BMW parts that had little value but I was convinced I’d need someday. Into the trash they went, and it felt good to let go. The seller of this Mopar trio found here on craigslist – consisting of a 1969 Plymouth GTX, 1972 Dodge Charger and a 1972 Plymouth roadrunner – says his collection has grown out of control and he now needs the money and space more than a squadron of project cars. While all the cars have some rust and evidence of bondo’d repairs, the seller’s liquidation-style listing seems to encourage making an offer on the whole lot. Located in Ft. Pierce, Florida, it could be worth a phone call to kick some prices around. Thanks goes to Barn Finds reader Scott for the find!

Descent price depending on how bad the rust is. I personally lily the 72′ charger ralley. The 340 and the color make it a good investment.

I am fascinated by people who build large collections like this. I knew of a man who amassed a decent GTO collection and a hoard of parts that he was reluctant to sell. After he died, I wondered what happened to all the parts. The cars would be an easy sale. But did the heirs know the value of what they had inherited or did these parts end up in the dump?

The GTX appeals to me. The 440 makes it a real muscle car. The 340 is not enough for this size car and the 400 is all smogged up. The thing that worries me is the rust. The seller said the GTX has a lot of bondo in the quarters.

Seller states the 72 RR has a 72 440 6 barrel (not 6 pack- Dodge term). Now how rare would a 72 440-6 replacement engine be? I know that 3 B-Body Mopars left the factory with that engine in between the front frame rails. Or is it a seller error?

Walter, owner states that the 69′ GTX has a 1972 ‘ 440, and he “thinks” it might be a 6-barrel engine
