New Parts Included: 1968 Chevrolet Camaro

The owner of this 1968 Camaro believes that it may have started life as a Camaro SS, but he says that he has no way of confirming this. The car looks a little sad, but it looks like it could be a viable project, and it comes with a host of parts that will help rid the car of the dreaded rust. The bidding on the Camaro is sitting at $1,125, but the reserve has not been met. There is also a BIN option of $3,500 for those who look at the Camaro as a “must have.” Located in Valdosta, Georgia, you will find the Camaro listed for sale here on eBay.

What would a restoration project be without rust? Well, this Camaro has it, but it’s not all bad news. The car comes with a host of replacement components that should make this a distant memory. As well as the quarter panel that you see here, there is also one for the other side of the vehicle. In addition, there is a driver’s side rocker, new full floor pan, new filler panel for below the rear window, new trunk floor, and a new tail-light panel. So, that gives the new owner a bit of a head start in that area.

Where the news is less positive is in the area of the interior and the engine. The interior looks to be missing a lot of parts, and what’s there looks pretty sorry. So, it looks like a new interior is on the cards. The story with the engine and transmission looks like it might be similar. I can see a box with a few pistons and other components, but there is nothing to indicate that there is an actual engine or transmission included in the sale. Oh well, at least that gives you the option of fitting the car with the engine and transmission of your choice.

There is no doubt that this Camaro is a major restoration project, and I’m not going to try to convince you otherwise. However, for those who are brave, it looks like it could be a good starting point to build the car of your dreams. It might just be me, but I’m glad that none of the replacement panels have been permanently fitted to the car, as this will give the new owner control over the fit and finish of these items. If you go out and look at what is available in the way of rusty ’68 Camaro rollers with a clear title, and then price the replacement components that are included in this sale, then this starts to look like a pretty fair deal at the BIN price.

There was a day when you could have put this out in the yard with a big “free” sign on it and have gotten no takers. For the amount of work and expense, it still should say free.

Hmmmmmm. Just what I need to give my project a boost. At a good price depending on how it goes.

My interest in the car itself is purely as a doner. The new parts are of course some of what I need as well. No need for an engine and trans even if they are with it. Sent an email with a few questions. If I have to get it delivered that could effect the price I’m willing to pay. We’ll see.

$2000 for the new 1/4s, and rockers might be a good deal. As for the car itself .. why bother? I don’t see anything redeemable here. It’ll cost more to haul it away than it’s worth. It’s life is over, let it go.

you’d to have to be pretty hard up for a car to restore to take this on, Can’t see any redeeming quailities except the parts. Good luck to the new owner, get a tetanus shot before you move this one.

This would be an excellent project for a high school or trade school shop class. The owner might consider donating the project and taking a tax write-off. The students could spend the year learning how to properly fit and weld replacement panels. When they graduate, they’ll be pros and the car could be auctioned as a fundraiser. Could be a win-win situation for both parties.
