Overall this looks like a nice, clean shortbed square body Chevy. I think ’87 was the first year they went from a 4 barrel to Throttle Body Fuel injection. A 305 V8 was ok in these, I had one in my ’86 with a 4 speed ( SM465) and it had plenty of power to get out of its own way and haul the occasional load. A 350, even better!!! The rim/tire combo is interesting. I’m more of a stock tire and wheel guy. But I appreciate the appearance of a Chevy Rally Rim thay was so popular back then. ( always wanted them, never had them on any of mine. That seat is definitely redone, but very nice. The whole truck is nice. Noce one Adam!!!

There was definitely something special about the earliest 350 TBIs… back when I first got my license a good family friend bought a brand new ’89 Silverado. He was fond of his liquor & almost always took me along as a wheelman. I was the very first one who got to drive it from the dealership & spent a lot more time over the years pulling trailers & such. Point of the story is, that thing would absolutely burn rubber even with a trailer in tow! I’m guessing they detuned the later ones for emissions but never changed the ratings because I drove a later ’95 model that felt like it didn’t have half the power.
I love the old TBIs because the only 2 things that’ll stop ’em is fuel pump & pickup coil in the dizzy.
I’m not a fan of those “trendy” wheels – they just don’t look right.
A set of factory rally wheels,or period correct mag wheels would really
set it off.

I love these trucks but why does everyone have to drop them they are fine at normal ride height and I would bid on it if it was but I don’t want a lowered pickup and I would rather have the stock wheels but this is my opinion

There is another term for those rims, which I would like to use, but I’ve been chastised for using it, so I guess I won’t.
I bought a brand new 87 step side, in line 6 and 3 on the tree.
Loved it like no other. But it had floor boards rusted through in 3 years due to Michigan salt.

I get a kick out of the fact that these days “Silverado” is essentially bottom of the line and you add trim levels from there. “Custom Deluxe” once filled that spot.

I bought a new 87 GMC K15 very similar to this one. I needed a 4×4 to get up my driveway after moving to Vermont from Colorado. Had the 4.3/ 4 speed/ base Sierra but it did have AC(?)! Great little truck, but I just can’t justify the prices these are now commanding! Owned many squares purchased new and the most I spent was $25k on a new 91 K25 Suburban. These trucks remain plentiful in the south and west and every part is available to restore them, so how can one feel that they are worth $100k+? But many are indeed selling at those prices! Wow!
This really is a good looking truck! I had a 85 Silverado, rally wheels, stock ride height. The stance on this is a good look. Only problem is with the lowers suspension and shorter sidewall tires it ain’t gonna be a smooth ride. I don’t think that paint is original though. A truck this old with 177,000 miles has a bed that clean – babied or not. No harm, no foul other than maybe not being straight about it.
