No Reserve 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible

Sitting in this garage is a 1969 Camaro SS Convertible that needs a new home. The owner, who is also the car’s original owner, treated it to a restoration in 2010, and it has survived the past decade rather well. It is a rust-free classic that is ready to be driven and enjoyed by its lucky new owner. Located in Rancho Cucamonga, California, you will find the Convertible listed for sale here on eBay. Bidding has reached $40,100, and if you aren’t already tempted, the owner’s decision to offer it with No Reserve might be enough to tip you over the edge.

The Camaro presents exceptionally well in Glacier Blue. The paint holds a beautiful shine, and the panels are generally as straight as an arrow. The exception is the driver’s side front fender. As you can see in this shot, it does have a ding that the buyer will probably want to address. Given how nice the rest of the car is, it would pay to have this addressed by a reputable paint shop to maximize the chances of achieving a color match. The White power top is in excellent condition, while the same appears to be true of the trim and glass. When it comes to the question of rust, there’s not much for a buyer to be concerned about. There is some light surface corrosion on the inside of the trunk pan, but that appears to be the extent of the problem. There is no evidence of penetrating rust, with the floors and frame looking spotless.

While the Camaro is in the shop having the dent repaired, it would provide a golden opportunity to have this defect repaired. It is at the front of the hood, and as chips go, it’s a beauty. Someone has performed an amateur touch-up to stall the onset of corrosion, but it deserves to be correctly repaired. There is also a minor defect in one of the White stripes, but the buyer will need to inspect this to ascertain how it should be tackled.

When we turn our attention to the drivetrain of this Camaro, there’s a lot to like. It is a numbers-matching vehicle that features a 350ci V8 and a 4-speed manual transmission. The car also features power steering, and the owner has installed 4-wheel disc brakes. That 350 should produce 300hp, which is enough to send the SS down the ¼ mile in a neat 15 seconds. During the restoration process, the owner has pushed out the boat to ensure that the car runs and drives as nicely as possible. He has fitted all-new suspension, including springs, shocks, and other components, to return it to an as-new state. The buyer will reap the benefit of this work because the owner reports no problems. It seems that the Camaro is ready for a spot of top-down cruising.

Slipping behind the wheel of the Camaro is guaranteed to be a pleasant experience. The interior presents as superbly as the rest of the vehicle, with no evidence of wear or damage to the upholstered surfaces. The carpet has minimal wear and fading, while the dash and console are also spotless. The console houses the factory gauge pack, and it all works correctly. Aftermarket additions include a radio/cassette player with speakers cut into the door trims. There is also a Hurst shifter, and if these items don’t take your fancy, reversing the changes should not be complicated or expensive.

The owner of this 1969 Camaro SS Convertible has performed enough changes that the work would probably be classified as a refurbishment rather than a restoration. It has a few flaws, but the buyer could address these as time and circumstances allow. If you are looking for a driver-quality classic convertible, it deserves a closer look. There have already been forty-four bids submitted, so if you are serious, you could have a fight on your hands. Still, we tend to have a greater appreciation for things that we fight for than those handed to us on a silver platter. I think that this Camaro could be worth the fight.

Sideways shift handle is a bit bizzare. Otherwise, very cool Camaro.

The seller is not the original owner. He’s had several cars featured in this previously, a quick look at his current and recently completed listings number half a dozen.

It may not be a real SS, potential buyers would be wise to go over this car with a fine tooth comb. All SS’s in 69 came with power front disc brakes, which this car dies not have. There is no picture of the trim tag, which on a Norwood car can rule out it not being an SS.

there IS a picture of the trim tag, but no picture of the 12 bolt

the description states a 4wdb conversion was performed … not sure about no power booster with that

there are NO factory a/c components on the car (save for the switch), it is a hodge dodge of parts. The core support would have holes across the top for the seal IF it were a factory ac car

deluxe seats were added as the rest of the interior is standard

and WHO doesn’t paint the outside perimeter of a 69 Camaro grille? a hack, that is who

missing the cocktail shakers in the back at least, someone added sfc’s too

68 style exhaust, the list is endless on this car

Thanks, I missed the trim tag. I spent more time looking at the pictures of the trunk floor and engine component.

There is just something off about this car and the story. The shiny paint, 4spd and convertible top will cause potential buyers to drop their guard.

I am always suspicious when a seller includes a picture of an older person standing next to the car. Are we supposed to assume that it is the original owner or something?
This guy is the loader, you should have had him take his back support belt off.

S S models the back up lamps were separate from the tail lamps they were in the valance panel under the bumper

No, the RS model had the backup lights separately in the lower panel. The SS model did not.

You are confusing RS’s (rally sports) with SS’s. The rally Sport was an appearance package with hidden headlight, solid red taillights, reverse lights in the lower valance and some other minor changes to trim. Only Camar’s ordered with the RS’s package came with separate reverse lights in the lower valance.

I think you are talking about the Rally Sport (RS) that had separate backup lights under bumper. I’ve owned several and the SS had the normal tail lights.

It looks like a consignment…the seller is a dealer…the ad says “this car came with factory AC but we took out the AC Compressor because we live in California”. Really? That is a reason to pull an a/c system? Last I heard, it gets rather warm in CA on occasion…on the up side, it is a very pretty car…nice find…

I haven’t been on here in a while, I think this is the same ad I saw over a year ago. Same older man.

One more observation, this car is wearing 2021 registered Colorado tags, but the car is listed for sale in California … is the seller a flipper/consignor and NOT the original owner?

    Guys,
I’m interested in this ‘69 as I had almost the same exact car w color combo about 12 years ago. Sold it and regretted it ever since. This car concerns me as I’m not sold that it’s a true SS. Any way to truly know by the pics, etc? I was under the impression it should be an X-Code car as well. Any thoughts aside what’s already commented on would be great appreciated. Thanks!

I’m waiting for the next one in the “Old Guy” series of someone in an Iron Lung next to the car.. Warning: You must be 50 or older to get that reference.

Well, with all the nitpicking of this car, the price sure seems ridiculous. So many people have Barrett Jackson syndrome. I have driven 69 Camaros. Like driving a buck board. I prefer 1970. Good luck to the buyer, he or she is gonna need it.
