No Reserve: 1986 Ford F250 4×4 with 19k Original Miles!

It can sometimes be challenging to determine whether a classic is desirable or strikes a chord with potential buyers, but this 1986 Ford F250 4×4 leaves no doubts. It presents superbly as a low-mile survivor, and although it doesn’t feature the most potent drivetrain combination, it has generated significant interest since the seller listed it here on eBay. The F250 is located in Tacoma, Washington, and frantic bidding has pushed the price to $18,100 in a No Reserve auction.

It isn’t easy to know where to start with this F250 because its overall condition and presentation are pretty impressive. Its original owner ordered it in a winning combination of Desert Tan and White. The paint shines beautifully, and the color-coded cap adds a classy and practical flavor to this classic. The cap provides welcome protection for the bed and an added layer of security for possessions carried in that area. A spray-on bedliner assists the presentation and is a further layer of protection for an area prone to physical damage. The panels are as straight as an arrow, and a life garage-kept has ensured it has remained rust-free. The supplied underside shots reveal the undercoat is peeling in a few spots, but there is no evidence of developing corrosion or rust. The side and rear bumper steps will be welcomed by those who may otherwise struggle to climb aboard a classic of this type, while the trim and chrome look spotless. The F250 rolls on its original steel wheels, and the damage-prone hubcaps look faultless.

If this Ford’s exterior makes a positive impression, the interior ramps things up a notch or two. Regular readers know I don’t tend to describe this aspect of any vehicle as being in showroom condition, but this one doesn’t miss the mark by much. There might be slight wear on the mat under the driver’s feet, but I wouldn’t stake my house on it! There are no rips or tears, and the seat is spotless. There are no signs of physical damage or plastic that has suffered at the hands of UV exposure, with the dash and pad crack-free. I can’t spot any aftermarket additions or modifications. It isn’t loaded with factory options, although most buyers will welcome the tilt wheel and AM/FM stereo radio/cassette player.

Some potential buyers will be disappointed to lift this F250’s hood and find a six occupying the engine bay, but there is nothing wrong with the power and torque produced by this 300ci powerplant. The driver will have 125hp and 250 ft/lbs of torque at their disposal, which feeds to the road via a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Although this motor is down on power compared to the 302 that found its way under the hood of many F250s, there is less than a 5% difference in the torque figure, and that’s the one that is more important when considering how this classic performs on and off-road. The seller claims it has a genuine 19,000 miles on the clock, and although they don’t mention supporting evidence, the overall condition of this survivor makes the claim plausible. The only fault they note is the older tires. Although they look okay, replacing them could be a wise move on safety grounds. Otherwise, it needs nothing. The Pickup has been appropriately maintained throughout its life and runs and drives perfectly. Leaving the tire issue aside, it is a turnkey proposition ready for some serious summer adventures.

This 1986 Ford F250 4×4 would have turned heads when new, and its overall condition guarantees it will turn even more today. It has attracted the attention of potential buyers, with an incredible sixty-two bids submitted at the time of writing. People like what they see, which is understandable. It appears to need nothing and would suit a meticulous new owner. Considering its overall condition and odometer reading, are you tempted to join the bidding war on this classic?

Nice truck. You can’t beat a 300 Ford inline six with a ball peen hammer. That engine isn’t even broken in yet.Whomever buys it the engine will outlast them. Curious to see how high it goes for.I’d guess little over 20k.glwts.

$25K came instantly to mind; perhaps more if sentimentality enters the competition. The cap complements this rig giving it a Bronco-like appearance. I’m sure it will find a good home.

The 300 straight 6 and the 4 speed with the Creeper first gear is an indestructible combo. A lot of low end torque. The 300 straight 6 was used in a number of commercial chassis and 350 series too. Very nice very well maintained. Someones going to get a great truck here. I hope they keep it stock.

Awesome truck! I’ll take it ! Those 300ci engines actually give BETTER performance than you would think. Drove one once – a 1983 300ci and three on the tree. That truck really moved faster than I thought, although it was empty, you could feel the torque! This one is a keeper ! It’s worth it. Good luck to the new owner. Good gas mileage too….

The 300 six and 4 speed will get the job done. I hauled construction equipment with this same combination back when this truck was new. Someone will be getting a nice rig. That sure beats fifty large for a similar used one in today’s market. GLWTS.

“… tempted to join the bidding war on this…”
no way, no auctions here. Worse – an on-line 1.I’d say away double if possible (beyond the 1st) on this 1, altho a decent vehicle.
Right motor w/4WD (no more short beds by 7th gen?) hasa cap, is lined, (is the 3rd peddle emerg or clutch?) low mi…

    Wonderful truck!
Kind of looks like the carpeting may have been replaced or has come loose and is sagging.
