No Reserve: 1992 Chevrolet Corvette With 58k Original Miles

The C4 Corvette spent many years in the wilderness, but the bidding action on this exceptionally tidy 1992 example demonstrates that these classics are experiencing ready acceptance in the current market. There is little to criticize with this survivor, and the odometer reading of 58,000 genuine miles means it should offer a new owner years of reliable motoring pleasure. The seller has listed the ‘Vette here on eBay in Darby, Pennsylvania. Bidding has raced to $8,500 in a No Reserve auction.

The C3 Corvette would always be a tough act to follow, but the C4 surprised many. Its first full year of production doubled sales volume compared to the final year for the C3. This car is 1-of-20,479 sold in 1992, the lowest annual figure during the C4’s production life. The Bright Red paint gracing its panels proved the most popular color, with 4,466 buyers selecting that shade. I always hesitate to describe an unrestored vehicle of this vintage as perfect, but its overall presentation shouldn’t cause its new owner any shame. The paint shines beautifully, with it and the panels showing no evidence of significant flaws or defects. The Black soft-top is in excellent order, fitting tightly with no rips or tears. The lamp lens in the driver’s side front bumper is foggy, but the remaining lights, badges, and distinctive alloy wheels are spotless.

The Corvette’s interior carries the hallmarks of a low-mile survivor, with tidy presentation and no evidence of aftermarket additions. The leather seat upholstery exhibits some slight wear on the outer seat bolsters, but addressing this would take more time than money by utilizing a high-quality conditioner. The carpet and remaining upholstered surfaces are spotless, and the plastic hasn’t succumbed to UV exposure. The shifter quadrant has pushed through on the console, but it is unclear whether something has broken beneath. The console must come out to determine the cause, which could be an involved and time-consuming task. Otherwise, the interior needs nothing. It offers the buyer a comfortable motoring experience courtesy of the air conditioning, power windows, power locks, power seats, cruise control, power mirrors, a leather-wrapped wheel, and a premium AM/FM radio/CD player.

Tipping forward this Corvette’s hood reveals the LT1 version of the 5.7-liter V8, which was the standard powerplant introduced for this model year. The car also features a four-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes. The LT1 produced 300hp and 330 ft/lbs of torque, allowing the sleek Corvette to hit a top speed of 154mph. The seller states this is a two-owner survivor with a genuine 58,000 miles on the clock. They don’t mention supporting evidence for the mileage claim, meaning it must be taken at face value. However, they say this classic runs and drives perfectly, and the winning bidder could slip behind the wheel and drive off into the sunset.

This 1992 Corvette has struck a chord with potential buyers, attracting thirty-nine bids in under two days. That reflects both the growing popularity of these classics and the potential affordability if it stays around the current level. I expect the bid total and price to climb as the auction end draws near, but are you tempted to add to the total by making a play for this beauty? I wish you luck if you do.

At this moment, its value seems to be roughly half that of the 1987 Mustang GT as they are in similar locations in their auctions. Who would have thought that 30 years ago!

Very good looking, low mileage, attractive price but it is an automatic for those that have that distinction. Only thing I’m not sure of is the optispark. There were a few years that were problematic, and not sure if this is one or not.

Good question. If it had been replaced that is something that I would have included in the discrption as it is a Costly service issue that would need to replaced immediately to avoid the future problem.

Seller “Frank” moves a lot of vehicles through EBay and seems to have a lot of great reviews about the transactions and the man himself. Sounds like someone you can trust.
