No Reserve 20k Mile 1995 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car

The allure of the pace car is fading somewhat, in my uneducated opinion, as the desirability of such a vehicle seems tied to a specific era of collectors. While it’s just an opinion – and we know what they say about those – the declining interest in motorsports from younger generations is likely closely related t why pace cars just don’t have the same cache they once did. With this hypothesis in mind, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect that the limited-production models that come up for grabs like this 1995 Chevrolet Corvette pace car here on eBay will start to appreciate ever so slightly.

Bidding for this C4 Corvette sits at just over $13,000 with no reserve. But this is no driver-quality pace car: this Corvette has just 20,300 miles on the clock. There’s a strong possibility someone is going to walk away with a low mileage ‘Vette for a very reasonable price, with the added benefit of being a limited production model that is one of the better looking pace car tributes in recent memory. The luggage rack is a must-delete feature, in my opinion, but the rest of the package is sharp.

Like most every pace car, you didn’t get much anything different inside other than some cosmetic tweaks, like the two-tone purple and black leather seats. Still, it’s a distinctive look from most any other C4 Corvette, so calling it “limited production” really isn’t a stretch. The rest of the cabin is pretty standard GM fare for this era, which is to say not all that high-quality. The fact that we’re staring at a 20,000 mile interior is pretty sobering. This is no fault of the seller; this is just what passed for high-quality at the time at GM.

The biggest let down about pace cars is the lack of any actual performance enhancements. I always think of the vast desert between the Pontiac Fiero pace car and what was sold in showrooms. The ’84 Fiero pace car was bored out to 2.7L with 232 horsepower and a damn air scoop on the hood. So, the fact that almost any pace car sold in showrooms with a clone of the factory model with the exception of some stickers is always a bummer, in my book. Still, in the case of this Corvette, a sold price under $18,000 looks like a smart buy to me.

It’s a matter of taste. I think it’s the most under rated car made! The C4 body design was the last real Corvette in my opinion. The C5, not so much.

Was passed yesterday by a C2 coupe with oversized tire, side pipes and aftermarket rims. Looked and sounded glorious. This was the dream car of my youth. Far too few looking that good today. But any ‘Vette is sweet in my humble opinion.

Looks are a matter of taste. Remember – this was 28 years ago. Corvettes are not necessarily revered for their looks but more often for what they do. And in 1995 there were few cars that could out-handle or out-accelerate a Corvette. And none at the price.

But back to looks – lifting that clamshell hood and seeing all that wonderful machinery and the forged aluminum suspension arms is a delight to behold. The rear 3/4 view is the best for the C4 with that sassy ass ready to leave you in the dust.

You can bemoan the plasticky interior but until you’ve nestled into that cockpit and actually driven one you haven’t had the true experience. You want nappa leather and walnut burl? Go buy a Ferrari or a Bentley. You want cheap thrills (who doesn’t?) just wrap your ass in fiberglass.

Dam* air scoop? Sassy a$$? C’mon, we’re better than that guys.

What an ugly finish for such an elegant body design…

I’d like to say I’m sorry if you’re offended, but that would be disingenuous. I rather liked the alliteration of “sassy ass”. Say it over and over in your head a few times and you’ll never forget it. Just as you’ll never look at the rear end of a Corvette from now on and not hear “sassy ass” rumble through your brain.

      But thanks for commenting.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Read that someplace and it holds true with this vette as well. I agree that the rack should go but just my opinion.

Beauty is the eye of the beer holder is a truer statement in this instance.

I finally got my favorite Pace Car, and it’s a lot of sassy ass, gaudy fun. I took it from 78k miles to 86k so far, previous owner drove it instead of babying it. I would take this one over the purple/yellow 1998 one.

In my opinion, the purple and yellow looks way better!

Nice car. My ’07 is blue with a khaki top. Had an all black ’95 coupe. I think Corvettes were styled to look so good from behind because that’s the view most other drivers get.

A no milleage convertible corvette with a rare color scheme sounds good
As the owner of a low miles 89 vert
I am surprised with the handling and ease of maintenance
    I will
Upgrade to a c6 with paddle shifther and will definitely enjoy having a trunk
And the c4 ‘s are a cheap fun machine
