Not a Speck of Rust: 1968 Ford Galaxie 500

Ford saw a slight uptick in sales of its full-size cars in 1968. Perhaps that was due to smooth styling that dropped the stacked headlights after three years. The platform was the same as before, and the engine lineup was similar, with the 302 cubic inch V8 replacing the 289. But Ford continued to find itself in second place in sales behind Chevrolet, which included nearly 12,000 Galaxie 500 convertibles. We’re told this car is original and has been garage-kept for 20 years. Located in Cincinnati, Ohio, this Ford is said not to have a speck of rust and is available here on Facebook Marketplace for $18,000.

The lack of details about this Ford suggests it’s part of an estate sale (just a guess). And we’re not told if it runs or how well. If it does run, why not back it out into the daylight for better photos? Not one of the pics provided is in good lighting or shows the entire vehicle. The automobile looks to be in top-notch condition, with medium green paint, a black convertible top, and a matching interior with white accents.

We’re told the paint, interior, and engine are original. But what V8 is it, a small block perhaps? And we’re guessing an automatic transmission is along for the ride. There is no indication of the mileage on this Ford, which we assume is low considering how well it seems to have held up over 58 years. Too many of the sellers out there think cars are going to sell themselves, so they don’t bother with the story. I’d like to know this one’s. And I bet “Pnuts”, the source of the tip, would too.
