One Owner, Low Mile: 1984 BMW 6 Series

One automotive trend that is becoming more apparent is an appreciation and collecting of older German made cars. Finding clean examples in the states can be a fun hunt to those looking. This burgundy, 1984 BMW 633CSI is a great example. A one owner car with 90,365 miles, located around Flanders, New York, you can take this car home for a bid price more than $8,000. More is listed on eBay.

The 3.2 liter V6 is connected to a 5 speed manual transmission. Surprisingly, the undercarriage is in amazing condition, considering the geographic location. The listing is honest in pointing out that the car does have some rust on the fenders, scrapes, cracks, and wear on interior components, but otherwise, it is in amazing condition. An important note, in the listing, is that the electrical system is working well.

Inside is a relatively fresh, white, leather interior.  Due to age, the seats have a few scrapes and are worn slightly. Also, the dash does have a few cracks. An aftermarket stereo is installed and it does have a remote. That is evident by the pictures listed showing the interior. The floor mats and rear seats are eye catching. It is always nice to see a car so well taken care of to preserve that original beauty of the car.

If you are interested in getting into the collector car scene, have a taste for older German cars, and would like a running, driving, relatively inexpensive starter car, this is the best candidate for it. A visually appealing color combination, a prestigious brand, and a well-designed car, you will have yourself a conversation starter at any local car show you take it to. Daily driving it wouldn’t be out of the question either.

This is the best looking BMW since the 3.0 Coupe of the ’70s.
Big points for the low-ish miles, manual trans & color combo.
If i was looking for a weekend toy that will increase in value i’d drop $8k on this in a flash.

Yes and they are worth it because I have a ’85 635CSI and for it’s age it still handles well.

Agreed. The color combo is rare and strikingly good looking. Low miles and a manual trans to boot. I don’t care if the dash is cracked and seats are worn, if it’s as nice throughout as the single undercarriage picture suggests it’s worth $8k to me.

V6??? BMW has never made a V6 in its entire existence. They are however known for their silky smooth inline 6s though 😉

Yes, that would be the inline 6

I’ve never been inclined to buy a German car. I’ve known several people who have owned them and each of them had nothing but problems. I’ll pass.

Is this the model referred to as “shark-nose”?

Sedan is not as sexy but still awesome. Yes, these are the famed shark noses.

I love this! I’ve had a lot of BMWs and planned to get a 6 series coupe although I wanted the bigger motor (635, 645 ) In case you don’t know, BMW models engines are the second two numbers of the Name. Hence 633= 3.3 litre 635 = 3.5 litre 650= 5.0

IF this were another site, we’d be knee deep in the rust discussion by now. Shock towers, inside frame, below the windshield. But this looks like a fairly honest Beam.

I love these cars and always wanted one. I can’t believe how reasonable the price is. A new dashboard/pad and you’d be good to go. I’ve owned a number of older German cars and have had great luck with all of them, including my 1972 BMW 2002. With 2800 CSI’s and 3.0 CSI’s out of my economic reach, I’d love to scoop this one up. But right now I need to sell a couple cars, not buy more!

Always liked the 6 series. And in upstate New York no less.

I have owned several 6 series coups starting from an 81 633 csi, to several 635 csi cars. In addition to the exquisite styling of these cars, they were extremely well built, quiet, reliable, and an excellent road car. Because of its weight and size, it did not handle as well as the BMW 2002, but it handles incredibly well considering that it is a touring car.
I have owned a lot of high end cars, but the 635 is my all time favourite car for styling and overall comfort.
I still own an 88 635csi, and doubt that I will ever sell it.
From the supplied pictures, this looks like a nice car, and if the car is rust free, I believe it is worth the asking price.

I’m a tried and true Chevy guy, but I have a thing for ’80s BMW 2-doors!

I bought a 2000 BMW Z3 in June. I love that car! I do not understand the numbering system they use. Oh well. Not sure, but seems well bought. I paid 7K for my Z with 60 K on her. Ended: Oct 27, 2018 , 7:44PM
