Only Two Owners! 1962 Chrysler 300 Sport Series

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

The Chrysler 300 Letter Series had been around since 1955, establishing itself as the first true muscle car. Perhaps to take advantage of that car’s performance image, Chrysler added the 300 Sport Series in 1962, which included a 4-door hardtop and sedan and smaller V8s engines. Though this Chrysler wears 300H wheel covers (correct for 1962), it has a 383 cubic inch V8 (rather than a 413) that puts it into the Sport Series category. It’s a two-owner car that may be all original except for an older repaint, which still looks great!

Chrysler carried its 1961 automobiles into 1962 with one visible change – the rear tailfins were gone (an improvement IMO). But the slanted headlights remained up front. There was a shake-up in the model roster and the Windsor was gone in favor of the 300 Sport Series. Chrysler sold 25,000 300 Sport Series editions in 1962 vs. under 600 of the Letter Series. The seller’s 300 looks like a great car, but one to show off rather than to show.

There’s a lot of red going on here. That includes the leather interior which is said to be original and in great shape. The instrument cluster has been reworked so everything there functions as it should. That also applies to the power windows, one of many options on this stout Chrysler. The 383 has a 4-barrel carburetor and we’re told it performs quite well. The mileage is said to be 52,000 which means the Chrysler has seen little regular use over the years.

Located in Woodinville, Washington, this Mopar is being offered here on eBay by a friend of the owner (perhaps not internet savvy). These are cars you seldom see anymore, and this one should be one to take pride in. The current bid is just $11,600 but the seller’s reserve is unmet, so we don’t know what it will take for you to get to drive this one home. Who’s interested?

Really cool car! Surprised no mention of the astrodome instrument cluster with the electroluminescent backlighting. Chryslers had the best interiors during this period. I find it amazing the original leather still looks this good. These are amazing deals in my opinion. Turn key classic ready to be loved and enjoyed.

This car has been loved its whole life. So good to see a car properly maintained for decades.

Even as a young pimply teenager loved the Doing-100mph-standing-still look of these. Needs nothing more than a long line of credit at the fuel depot.

Parent had one when I was a late teen only got to use it once. Brought it home late at night with spilt beer in the trunk and it was mom’s turn to pick up the ladies for church the next morning. She had to take one of the Co trucks Not good

Damn push button shifter, go to turn up the heat and hit reverse. we had a Chrysler push button when I was a kid and it cost my Dad money to always have it fixed. When my Father passed away my Mother traded it for a Plymouth Valiant with a 318.

Plenty of ’62 Chrysler 2 dr HT with lesser engines were produced. Nothing very special about the 383 engine, except guzzling gas. Performance of the 383 was mediocre with a 2bbl and highway gears in a heavy fullsize Chrysler.

    Meh …

I had the identical car over 40 years ago, only maroon with tan. Same 383 4bl. Absolutely nothing “meh” about it. And neither did I ever hit the reverse button instead of “heat.” The only thing in it’s league for both cool and classy is a Riviera… had one of those, too! Life can be good.

Saw one of these for sale at a Mopar car show / swap meet this past Saturday. It was Turquoise with cream leather interior and a bit rougher than this one.
